I've been scouring the forum for a few hours now and I've narrowed down my choice for Reseller Hosting to Innohosting and Site5. I want to stick to a budget under $30 a month and am looking to host 5-6 sites initially, but plan on doubling that number relatively quickly. One of the sites, potentially the most highly trafficked, will have a main readership in the UK. All others will be visited primarily from the US. Should I be looking into UK based hosting? If so, EZPZ makes my list as well. Some things under considerations Site5- Pros: 50/500 GB at $24.95 a month Backstage/ MultiAdmin interfaces 3 IP (1 for name server) addresses included 30 day free trial Domain Registration (1 free w. coupon?) Cons: Added Fee for WHMCS license No end-user support Innohosting- Pros: WHMCS included Impressive customer service/ ticket response times reported End support included UPG09-1 Promo Code (1 tier upgrade) Legal Doc templates Cons: 15/250 GB at $26.95 a month (before promo) Only 1 IP address included? Domain Registration offered? Any input/ suggestions are greatly appreciated. I need to decide ASAP! Thanks, flimflamini

Since most of your websites are targeting US visitors, I will suggest going with a US server instead of a UK server. Do you require your provider to be anonymous? If so you may also want to consider that Site5 uses a custom cPanel skin which will cause you to be easily recognizable as a Site5 reseller.

I would suggest you EZPZ as they use Litespeed which is much more faster than apache.

Since you have one major UK traffic attracting website and other US traffic oriented websites, I would suggest you to go with a host that offers web hosting in US and UK. You may go for a US reseller plan for your US oriented websites and get a shared hosting account for your other website that will target UK visitors.

Just to clear up any misunderstandings/misinformation, our reseller plans come with the standard cPanel/WHM interfaces and themes (x3), so there is no branding concerns for resellers. Our shared plans utilize our custom cPanel skin (called SiteAdmin) and our custom multiple domain hosting option control panel (MultiAdmin). Backstage is our account manager that all customers use for updating billing information, support tickets, etc. Customers of our reseller clients don't use Backstage.

I can highly recommend site5 I would also take into consideration what others have said about location US vs UK Anyway site5 is excellent, and support is superb.

Site5 does not use a custom skin for resellers, are resellers receive cpanel or if they want rvskin. Thanks, Ben

Hi everyone. Thanks to bwb and tws for clearing up the Site5 reseller custom skin/ backstage/ multiadmin question. A few more questions... - How significant are the benefits of having the uk visited site actually hosted in the UK? - Also, my client will be blogging and is concerned about UK libel law, which is rather infamous. Does anyone know if hosting the site on a US based server would offer any protection? Site5 seems great and was my initial pick before coming across innohosting and ezpz, but the lack of end-user support is something that I feel could be sorely missed down the road. It's a shame Site5 does not offer it, as I woud have chosen them straight way if they did. I still may, though. Can anyone else comment on the speed advantage Litespeed (ezpz) provides over Apache (Site 5, Innohosting, etc.)? I appreciate everyone's help. -flimflamini

My experience is hosting in the UK for UK websites is really beneficial on speed (and this can impact on rankings). Plus the extra performance really improves visitors viewing. I have accounts with both US and UK hosting depending on where the website is targeted. For UK hosting I really recommend HostXNow as their support, performance and price is fantastic - for the US there are a lot of choices but Stablehost have been similarly excellent for me. Tim

If you want my opinion, I wouldn't put to much emphasis on the extras being provided by either company (all of that should be secondary). End of the day things like free domains, ssls, WHMCS licenses can all be separately obtains for cheap or reasonable costs. What you should be focusing on is the level of service actually being provided. A free WHMCS license is not going to do you any good if your site is down all of the time. What I recommend you do is do an advanced search here on WHT for reviews on both companies, along with taking into account any experiences from current former customers of theirs that post on this thread. Based on what you read, along with how thorough, friendly their sales department is, should be a pretty good gauge for you to decide on who to move forward with.

Hi FernGully, Good points about the extras. From what I've gathered from searching the forums over the past couple of days Site5, Innohosting, and EZPZ all have commendable uptime and customer service. So the free extras could just act as a tipping point in one direction. Site5- Can't really find a bad word about them since new ownership/ management team came in a couple years ago. Site 5 says they provide 3 IPs (2 nameservers and 1 for reseller hosting account although I assume these are all shared IPs (correct me if I'm wrong) Innohosting- Rameen and staff seem to have a bunch of fans around here. Only negatives, it seems, are some issues with a non-standard email port (not an issue for me) as well as the fact that one IP is shared across all resellers (sounds like it could be an issue). EZPZ- Dan at EZPZ also seems very well liked by forum members. Servers run on Litespeed which, apparently, provides faster speeds. Ticket response time is good, but not as consistently fast as Innohosting. It seems they're having some real issues right now with their US6 server (read "EZPZ hosting" thread), so that is some cause for concern. Stablehost- Grow's recommendation got me looking at Stablehost and they seem very impressive as well. Litespeed servers are a plus. However, I just read on another thread that all of their reseller accounts are hosted in Germany…not sure that would be a good fit for me. Right now I'm leaning towards Site5 or Innohosting for my US reseller account and an individual shared hosting account hosted in the UK via EZPZ. So many options and things to consider… how does anybody ever pick a host??? -flimflamini

Hi flimflamini! Welcome to the forums! Just a quick clarification regarding the above comment. We use standard and a non standard email port for our customers for those who have ISP's which block the standard SMTP port. So with us, both will work. In regards to the IP, majority of our customers buy a dedicated IP, and when they do, we put all their accounts onto their own IP. This is pretty much standard in the industry however. Also- does anyone have experience hosting a site with high UK traffic from a US based server? I'd prefer the cost savings of having all sites under one reseller plan but if going for an additional shared hosting with a UK based server is worth the extra cost, I'll do it.

Did you consider HostNine? It gives you the option to set up accounts at both UK and US locations (and in Asia, as well), from the same control panel.

Have you contact each individual host yet? I guess if the reviews aren't significantly leaning you one way or the other, the next best thing to do would be to gauge how fast and in depth each of the companies responses to your inquiries are?

A website that is hosted in UK and is targetted to European visitors will have a good latency when browsed across the continent. Also, you will get a SEO benefit since the websites will be accessible faster for UK visitor when being hosted in UK datacenter. So you may have to a pay a little extra, but eventually, you will see positive results for your website performance.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Jennifer. I will definitely go with UK based hosting for that site. You make a very persuasive argument! HostNine would seem to be the perfect (and only) solution to my situation, but after reading through the Reseller Account with Multiple Datacenters? thread, it seems that they are not quite there yet in terms of reliability. This is my next step. Unfortunately, I think Site5 may be out of the running for my reseller account based mainly on their lack of end-user support. The more I think about it, the more end-user support seems essential for me. So...I'm currently leaning towards opening a reseller account with Innohosting on a US based server & and a UK-based shared hosting account with EZPZ. It's just too bad that neither offer the multiple server location feature (under one reseller account) that I'm looking for!

Absolutely, other than great server performance, great customer/technical service is a must. As far as location, I wouldn't put to much of an emphasis on that. Although it is ideal to have your server located near where most of your traffic is originating, its not really all that necessary. The majority of your traffic will not notice the difference. The key important factors are making sure the server you are going to be hosted on is not overcrowded and that the data-center has great connectivity. Most reputable web hosts will provide you with some sort of speed test to test out connectivity before signing up (if not, be sure to ask them).

I use Innohosting and I've had great service from them, but there is one caveat. For some reason, Inno will not allow you to edit your own DNS settings. This function is disabled in WHM. This means that if you ever decide to move sites to a new host/server that you will not be able to lower TTL values a few days or a week in advance or direct people to the new site location. This will cause visitors to be routed to the old website address on Innohosting's servers and email will go to that server for days, etc. In other words, it would make everything a COMPLETE mess if you ever decided to leave Innohosting. It's something that's really bugged me about Inno since the beginning as they are the first host I've ever had who did not allow DNS editing in WHM. I've got a support request in about it, so I guess I'll find out if they have some flexibility on this issue.

Previously, due to a bug in cPanel (a client error in editing a DNS entry would stop the DNS services from loading up on the entire cluster resulting in all sites being down), we had this feature disabled and asked you to open a ticket with any changes you want us to make, we typically make them within 15mins of your ticket. Any setting in your DNS could be changed by a support ticket. However, since the bug has been fixed (a little while ago), we now enable this feature (for free) upon request. If you have any issues getting this enabled, just send me a PM and I'll be sure to get it enabled

Thought I'd provide an update... I've decided to go with Innohosting for the US based reseller account and EZPZ for a shared plan on their UK server. Just waiting to hear back from Rameen regarding a question about their promotion... then will sign up. -flimflamini

I've heard good things about InnoHosting. I'm sure you'll be satisfied with them. If not, Site5 and HostGator are both great alternatives.
