Is it worth it?

Is it worth it to invest time and money? I've got a coupon for hosting24.com where i can get any reseller plan for 50% off for life.. but i dunno, should I invest my time and effort into something like this? I know it's only like 15$ a month but still, can i easily make that back? I need suggestions on how and what i need to get started if i even should get started.

The first and probably the most important thing you want is a Business Plan. If you are going to start a company , sit down and think a good business plan and stick with it. You should read Running a Web Hosting Business Section about that. It is easy and hard the same time. You can find a client from the first month or you can wait up to 3-6 months for your first customer. And about time. You have to invest alot Hope i helped

Don't dig a hole for yourself by trying to out-price others. All that does it create a host without money to survive long-term.

Come up with a business plan first. How much will you sell for? How many customers will you need to break even and make profit selling for that much? How will you get customers? How will you advertise? Do you have enough time to supply decent support for customers? If you dont have enough time will you hire someone? Or Run it with a friend? You should ask yourself do you have the time to put into the company? It's easy to setup a web hosting business, but then its up to you to support and put the work into it. As others have said come up with a business plan, this is were many new web hosting company's fail. They expect to just buy a reseller account and that's it. I notice you have "Designing" in your name, Do you do web design or other related services?

I would recommend that you sit down and write a business plan before doing anything. If you have a solid business plan in place and follow it, it can definitely be worth it

Well getting a reseller account set-up does not take much work. However depending on your experience it can be rather confusing. From there, running and starting an actual web hosting business is an entirely different story. Have you thought about your approach yet? Meaning, how do you plan on getting customers? Most people who start off using resellers are usually already dealing with some type of client base (Ex: Web Designers, Programmers..ect), who instead of referring clients to other web hosts, decide to host the clients themselves).

I think you should come up with a business plan first before deciding to commit with them. Even with a coupon code from webhosting24.com for reselling purposes, I think it really takes you a lot of time to get back the money you've spent every month with them.

Right where I am now. I am running on a VPS and thats turning out well for me. I like the control. I started in a VPS and slowly moving up. If you go for a reseller make sure you have enough money for: -The reseller account -Billing software -Selling domains <--- Helps greatly Like everyone else says. Write up a plan, It helps.

Have a business plan is important, like many here have suggested. Having a passion to run this business, IMO, is even more important.

Well who can tell if it worth or not, indeed you can only decide if it worth or it don't. because no one else your needs, so you should decide.

So Bryan, I'm interested to know if you've finally decided to take/give up the idea of this web hosting biz. I believe with the valuable info and advice from many members here in WHT, you're in good hand to start this project to give it a try.
