Server Scan

Posted by nisamudeen97, 03-23-2015, 03:47 AM
I am using maldet and clamscan to scan my server files. clamscan is produciing results in less time meanwhile maldet requires too much time to complete producing better results these days. Is there any other server scan sotwares available for free which is easier to manage ? I am worrried about self triggered spam bots.

Hi, You can enable Maldet to scan with clamscan and this way, it will be more faster. Enable the clamscan in the maldet configuration file.

Hi, You can go through the below docs and check the options and ways to configure maldet to get most of it. https://www.rfxn.com/appdocs/README.maldetect

You mentioned in initial post that maldet scan is taking more time to produce the result. Is it taking more time everytime when you scan your server? It may also possible that there are some suspicious files present in your server due to which scanning process is taking more time. What is the output of this long running scan? Is it giving any list of malicious files? You can try other anti-virus tool like Rootkit Hunter. This URL will be helpful to install and configure it: http://www.tecmint.com/install-linux...os-and-fedora/

Maldet uses ClamAV scan engine, I assume that your problem is due to old version of ClamAV on the server. Once you update ClamAV and Maldet, the scan will be faster. Run 'freshclam' from ssh then it should get updated. To update maldet on server run 'maldet -u && maldet -d'
