Hostdime Israel Review

Posted by sparkfox, 12-07-2011, 12:25 AM
I signed up with Hostdime Israel on Oct 26th 2011 for a reseller account and my account was setup promptly. From the beginning I was happy with the speed of the server. Speed was the most important factor for me when choosing Hostdime Israel as I wanted a fast server that would serve my local clients. For about 4 weeks everything was fine. The uptime was fine, it was fast, and support was good and prompt. Then everything started going down hill very quickly. An ecommerce site I was hosting went offline for several hours. What made things worse was the support I was getting, or lack thereof... Support replies took many hours, and sometimes days to arrive, and when they did arrive they were completely unhelpful. For example I got a reply saying "the site is up now". No explanation of why this happened, what's being done to prevent it from happening again. Nothing. Just letting me know it now works. That was on a Thursday, and on the following Monday the problem happened again, this time for "just" 1 hour. Then again on Wednesday for 10 hours! Finally was the following Sunday with a downtime of 7 hours. As usual, support was slow, unresponsive and uninformative. All the support tickets took hours or days to arrive. They were from India, not from the local team, which I have no idea if it even exists anymore. The answer was always along the lines of "we're checking into this" and later "it's working now". That last time was enough for me and I moved the account away and then began migrating the other accounts. To add insult to injury, when I asked for a refund due to them not standing up to their TOS this was the reply I got: "In order to show that we do care about your business, we are willing to credit your account a one-time 5% inconvenience refund if you would like." So, After 1 month with less than 90% uptime and perhaps the worst hosting support I've ever gotten, I can highly UNrecommend hostdime Israel, or hostdime at all for that matter.

Don't they have a 90 day full refund policy?

I submitted the relevant domains so you can verify my review. >> Don't they have a 90 day full refund policy? I'm not sure. Their Israeli site has been offline for several weeks now... I'll see what they say about that though. Thanks!

Hello sparkfox, I apologize for the issues you have been having with our Israel Branch. They are going through a transitionary phase right now and this is causing some major headaches for many of our clients which we are working diligently to fix. Could you possibly PM me a ticket ID or your domain with HostDime Israel so I can check into it further and ensure our Global Operations Manager gets in touch with you as soon as possible to assist you further? Thank you,

Sparkfox, We apologize sincerely for any issues or inconveniences you have had. I was able to locate your account and we are doing some internal research to see what exactly is wrong with the server you are located on. I do know over the past few weeks we had a constant DDOS attack on one of the Israel shared servers there and this maybe related to this. As you can imagine dealing with such issues at times isn't as easy as it may seem. We will contact you shortly and issue you a full refund and also move you to another server and grant you some months free due to the inconveniences. In the future if you have any issues please feel free to contact us in management in HostDime USA, if you do a search here on WHT you will see that our reputation and service is the total opposite of what you experienced and we are committed to turning this around for you. I apologize again for this isolated issue you have experienced. Last edited by HostDime; 12-07-2011 at 12:03 PM.

Our HostDime Israel site isn't offline, www.hostdime.co.il it is simply going thru some internal restructure process, re-design of the site and restructure of local branch. We have stopped new sales going to HostDime Israel for the time being and only servicing existing clients while we complete this transition.

This is the first time I heard about a DDOS, and if it is related, I would expect to be informed about it. Lack of communication is the worst feeling when it's a service you depend on. There will always be downtime or a bug or what not, that's part of this world. But what's important in my opinion is to be open and clear about it, and this is my main complaint and why I felt I wasn't in good hands. Thank you, I appreciate it. Just for the record, I did contact your USA support after I wasn't getting the answers I needed from the India support team, but the issue remained. I do know of your good reputation and that was the reason I chose your service. I wish you luck in solving the issues with your Israeli service and if there's something I can do to help please let me know.
