Looking for a VPS Reseller

Posted by JackVX, 01-04-2012, 10:42 PM
Hello, In due time I am looking to get into actual VPS hosting, for the next month or more I am looking to get a VPS reseller to see how popular they will be. Can anyone suggest a good VPS reseller?

BurstNET has a good VPS Reseller programme

This may not be exactly what you are looking for as it's cloud servers/cloud hosting, but I highly recommend you take a look into this It can also be easily integrated into many billing applications to automate setup. http://vps.net/reseller/

Many VPS providers have an affiliate program but if you're look for white label reseller solutions there aren't many. However try contacting some you have interest in and see if they can offer any custom solutions for you. Good luck!

I find VPS reselling is not a successful model as Reseller Hosting.

You checked Dynaceron? I am a reseller there and very happy with the service. http://dynaceron.com/reseller-program

We take a bit of a closer relationship with our resellers, helping them try to find a path to success. I always recommend that they don't simply resell our product, instead they need to find a way to add value to it. Some easy examples, would simply be to make the product fully managed, or to focus specifically on VPS+cPanel. It really gives the reseller a bit of a niche to specifically focus on. In doing so, they're typically able to increase their profit margins, and client retention rate, helping them create a viable business.

I wish they had better information on how to setup WHMCS to integrate with their service.

You can resell VPS from any provider offering unmanaged VPSs, and like Terry said, just include management (Semi-Managed, Managed or Fully Managed).

careful of the word play on your offerings.... you could find yourself in trouble. just make sure you can provide what you claim AND those claims aren't ambiguous. managed vs FULLY managed.

does vps.net reseller program allow automated setup. ie, customers that sign up for a vps on my website are created and once payment is received whmcs runs a command to create the vps.net account for the user and send them a welcome email?

Yes it does . You might find it better to email resellers@vps.net where one of the sales team can take you through any questions that you have

Well I can tell you right now that they do have a module that will do what you’re talking about. BUT the instructions to get it working are not complete. I personally have been mailing them for a week to get the answers to the pieces of the puzzle to get it working as well. Their site says: Support: We are here for you 24/7/365 – by live chat, email or Twitter But that is only for any nodes you have purchased NOT help getting the VPS.net module setup with WHMCS or other reseller related questions. I couldn't even get information about the domain pricing whether it was accurate in the back end of the reseller panel. I was told to contact reseller@vps.net and that was the last and only thing they posted on chat before signing away. Their attitude on the subject is that they are busy adding features and don't have time for documentation. Here is the post where the comment was made: http://www.vps.net/forum/topic/3333-...post__p__33428 I was shocked to hear management say something like that. We were taught in college that as a programmer documentation was equally important to a project as the code itself. But every issue I had always came down to me being told to email resellers@vps.net I got the same statement from the guy Igobyterry that is their representative. So they have the module but they don't exactly support it fully. You actually won’t see any mention of it. I think as I recall the latest version is 1.1.5 but not sure how that differs from their officially announced version of 1.0. Don't get me wrong I get excited anytime I see a great new offer that I can start offering to clients that will help them and is affordable. The documentation for the older module that they have listed in the announcement area for their forum is different than with the latest version of the VPS.net module. I would suggest getting the one from their VPS reseller back end area. It is better in my opinion than the default one you get with WHMCS. One of the nice things is that it sets up the cloudservernodes and cloudstoragenodes for you sort of. You still have to go and enter all the details for each. So be prepped for eighteen lines of data entry. The docs in the module don’t have the pricing for the services either. And I didn’t find them anywhere in the reseller back end. I had to email their reseller department to get a PDF and the PDF does not exactly explain the pricing either. Just for instance they have the R1Soft backup option listed with a price but that does not tell you if it is per 10GB or per 20GB so you just know that it is R1Soft and a price. I saw some mention of having to purchase a VPS for the R1Soft backups but not sure about that either. About all these questions could be answered quicker via chat or even phone but you can’t get that level of support. I am however sure I will be pleasantly please just like a many other of their clients once I get it working right, and setup and I even look forward to doing what I can to help others to not go through the teeth pulling experience of trying to figure many things out by myself. I have a very type A personality so I like to get onto a project and get it rolling. The only problem I see is with white label. They don’t have it setup so that you get a reseller panel that your users can use that does not expose who you are buying from. I am of course talking about the cloudkeeper.net login. Currently you get a SSL certificate error if you try to use a CNAME record of course. And there is no way to get a dedicated IP and install a SSL certificate like you would with any other hosting. So your users will either see a SSL warning or randomhost.cloudkeeper.net when they go to login. That all of course has nothing to do at all with the WHMCS module. Just thought I would share some thoughts and experiences to help out.

Resellers are a sales function, so they operate Mon-Fri 9-5 PM. I did a search for your company in our CRM tool and wasn't able to find you, so I don't know if you've had your questions answered or not. If you just file a quick ticket, Mohammed, our reseller manager, will be right on it.

Very good detailed review of the VPS.net reseller/whmcs module setup. Thanks.

That explains a lot. I know I have posted tickets and never got a response till about 6am EST. Actually my company name is Affordable Business Solutions LLC. But I have been wearing the brand Cut Above Host. I will have to email the reseller manager then. I can't get the nodecart.php to transfer the values chosen for nodes and storage to the WHMCS shopping cart. So it is like you pick the values you wish then turn around and have to pick them again once you get to the shopping cart.

Just try Jollyworkshosting, they have OpenVZ vps reseller package. Their servers are located in Phoenix NAP.
