Need a host with these features...

Posted by minstrel, 11-12-2006, 02:22 PM
I need a host that has the equivalent as 2wdhost.com in features. I need Fantastico DeLux with the lastest builds of WordPress and Gallery and phplist. Most importantly of all, I need a host who can support me in a fast time when I need it. This is the most important factor. I will be looking to get a reseller account similar to 2wdhost.com features. I am lookin gfor a new host as the current host (i bet you can guess) has become useless in terms of support. I have been with this host for over 2+ years so I dont take a hosting switch decision lightly thanks in advance.

Welcome to WHT! 2wdhost.com does not come up, so it will be hard to see what features they currently offer. Perhaps you can post them here? EDIT: they come up now, however it's very slow.

I've noticed that one of their features is Over-selling is allowed. This is not good, this will lead to terrible support and horrid uptimes by both parties. However what package do you have from them currently?

Well there is no shortage of cpanel hosts out there. Im not familiar with the host you mention but that has no bearing. Its too bad for a long term client though. This is also becoming the norm here. More complaints daily. Not sure but maybe they've grown too fast and are unable to keep support maintained.

How did you determine that? Are you sure you know what this actually means? Almost all resellers allow their clients to oversell the space/bandwidth they're given. This just means that if your client buys a reseller hosting plan that has 10gb space/100gb bandwidth that they're not confined to making hosting plans that add to those exact totals. Example: Instead of them only being able to create 10 plans with 1gb space/10gb bandwidth they can be much more flexible with their offerings. There's nothing wrong with this as long as resource usage is watched. Last edited by messa; 11-12-2006 at 03:45 PM.

I disagree. A host can allow their customers to oversell as long as the host does not oversell. Many companies who do not allow their customers to oversell instead oversell the boxes themselves. Their packages look fairly reasonable. Seems that as the company grew (or perhaps did not grow and the owners lost incentive) support degraded.

That is the same thing as the provider over-selling as well. It still uses up resources.

Everything uses resources. The issue is whether it can be handled or not. Like everything it can be done sucessfully or not. Overselling does not guarantee failure.

That looks very reasonable to me other than I wouldn't sell unlimited sites for less than the $20ish price point. You should be able to find something in that price range in the offers section. I don't know of anyone off hand but there should be several to choose from. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

Hi all, thanks for the information. I was able to find a host who seems to be very good right now. I will most likey post a review in a few weeks after I have moved my sites to the new location. cheers!

There are plenty of web hosts who allow overselling on their reseller plans, this does not mean horrid uptime and terrible support. This just allows the reseller to use up all of their allocated resources. It does not allow the reseller to use up more than what is allocated to them. Congrats! Looking forward to reading your review about your new web host

Hi. 2Minstrel: We are sorry to hear about your decision and we apologize for the delay in answering your ticket. Initial issue has been resolved shortly after your request (please note that it was a "Low" priority ticket) and reply regarding the other "sporadic" issue has been sent few days ago. Anyway, we will make corresponding conclusions from this situation and will do our best to prevent such confusions from happening in the future. 2JVS_Hosting: We allow resellers to oversell but they are not allowed to use more resources than allocated to their reseller plan. 2All the users: Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our services. We are always glad to answer.

thanks for the 2wdhost, I'm looking at ensuring I diversify some of my accounts. I guess the motto is "dont put all your eggs in one basket".

Okay, major thread revival here, but I thought I would follow up on this. Yes, its been nearly 6 years ! wow! But I moved to another hosting provider (http://skynethosting.net ) who during the past years has managed to support me in a timely fashion and I have been quite happy with them. They too have grown a lot in this period but so far have managed to keep my sites up and working along with answering my support tickets. Lets hope this continues Cheers B.
