FTNHosting.net acquires K-Disk Networks, the worst business ...

Posted by JoZ3, 01-24-2012, 10:07 AM
Since announcing the service for users of K-disk has deteriorated markedly, the sites have been down intermittently for hours, in addition to customer service which guarantee that answered in 30 minutes, yesterday was 7 hour delayed response and was when the server was online but 3 hours after the server was again down... I think it's smart is seek a new provider because if so is starting the service with FTNHosting then I can not imagine later..

Sorry you are having such a problem I would suggest you make a backup and start looking for a new host before it is too late.

Always have a local backup of your data. However, contacting FTN representative here can solve problem http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=198689 Good Bye Keith. Thanks God that I moved away from k-disk.

There is a 5-page topic on k-disk issues over the last month and you still didn't manage to get backups? That's bad.The only thing you can do now is patience until FTN responds.

My last backup was in janury 5, my account was in CP5 and that not had any problems until this weekend

So you have a 19 days old backup.Don't get me wrong,I am really trying to stress out the importance of backups. I run daily backups on 3 different locations both for my sites and my clients, and at the same time I am telling them to always have backups. You never know what can go wrong. This applies with any host, even if you were running smoothly with them for a decade.Even more in this case where the host in question has/had problems. Anyway you just need to wait for FTN to respond to your tickets and see what is wrong with your sites.

At the present time they are working flat out to resolve many issues with the company, in regards to CP5. Aren't they migrating accounts at the present time: http://k-disk.net/portal/announcemen...igrations.html

You are absolutely right, I'll pay more attention with respect to backups. I'm in CP5 since November by requirements that are not offered me CP4, and had no problems until this weekend, besides very poor technical support I still do not answer the ticket I put a couple of hours.

Maybe try contacting FTN-Kevin on here?

Hello JoZ3, I would like to apologize for the delay, we had a complicated issue with cp5 which took longer then anticipated to resolve due to delays at the DataCenter. Please Private message me your ticket ID and or domain I will make sure you are compensated for the down time.

Hello Jo- We had an issue with CP5 (server your account is placed on) last night, and let me tell you it was a nightmare working with the existing datacenter CP5 is on. Due with the datacenter not having a knowledgeable technician on-shift at the graveyard shift, they had to wait until morning to resolve it, which caused our customers and us to become frustrated and resulted in over 10 hours of downtime. This is why we are glad that we are moving CP5 and all other K-Disk servers to our new infrastructure, we do not deal with datacenters who are incompetent. We request you give us a chance and not be so quick to judge as your services are still on the old infrastructure. We guarantee issues like this will not happen with our infrastructure. Once everything is fully migrated, you will see better performance, hardware, support, and your overall experience should be pleasing . Anywho I spoke with Chris; it seems like you were in touch with him over PM and he granted you a FREE Month to show our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. While we are migrating CP5 to our infrastructure and it is in progress atm, no customers should experience any downtime during this process. Please bear with us while we're migrating the existing infrastructure to the new ones. We are working on turning K-Disk into a major player in the web hosting industry, but it is not something that can happen overnight. The first step is to get out of the existing infrastructure they are on as the hardware and stability is outdated. Once everything is migrated over to our stable infrastructure, we will then go forth and implement the promised features such as 30 minute ticket response times, phone support, and so much more. This should all be implemented before Feb 1. We appreciate your patience, it means a lot. Regards, Ethan

It is going to take at least a few weeks to transfer everything over.

Posted by Server Management, 01-25-2012, 08:21 AM
If theirs a good solid connection between the servers and depending on data you could have the data transferred in ~72 Hours On a recent migration I was doing from the US to UK doing a cPanel to cPanel transfer within root the accounts was being transferred at a rate of around 50 Per hour... (Most accounts was Wordpress or bog standard .html websites)

And not forgetting time needed to know whose doing what, dealing with all of the open tickets, fixing new issues due to different server setup to name a few.

I wish people were not so quick to jump from there current host when take overs happen. It may actually get better than worse. This happened to us when Nixism.com was purchased. Only are's got really screwy. With some guy buying it then deciding he wasn't able to make it work and then HostDime Coming to the rescue and making it a smooth transition. These things happen and it was probably a good thing it was taken over. Just give it some time you might be happier.

So if am reading it correctly someone purchased a business then decided they didnt want it anymore

Posted by jj@24khost, 01-25-2012, 10:27 AM
Okay so here is what happened. .Amaze(wht name) sold nixism.com to Veltrap (wht name) who promised us upgrades and all sorts of stuff then with in 3 or 4 days of us getting the email telling us of the take-over they stopped responding to support tickets. So I started searching and found out it was then sold to HostDime. That is when things actually got better and things started happening. There is a thread about this if you search nixism. It was just an example that sometimes waiting can be a good thing.
