"Chris Parker" (of CobraHost) sent me a private message stating he wanted to communicate on msn. His msn is cobrahost@hotmail.co.uk. http://i.imgur.com/SRtGw.png From the first chat he seemed to be a good guy a little bit, but I was also suspicious. But I needed to use a reseller for my situation. So.. I decided to try him out.. first payment was a hassle as he uses "2CO" and I don't remember the specifics but it wasn't too fun. Also he seemed inexperienced since he couldn't even manage to get the price set right on what I was paying for. My account was stating that it costed more than what he told me, so the 2CO bill was higher than what we agreed. But if he tried to keep extra money of mine I would have easily stopped the payment if necessary.. so I went for it. Luckily he did not overcharge me for the server (he's a reseller of OVH). It seems he's the only person behind the company, and he seems really bored most of the time. He sends me messages on MSN all the time bragging about his computer, or the money he makes, or making fun of other client's posts on forums. He shows me links to posts on forums about his reseller company all the time. He complains that he got banned from WHT for replying to someone in PM for something they wanted.. that he was banned for "spam". Not sure the deal with that.. Anyways he also constantly wants to invite me to watch him setup servers on teamviewer, and purchase another month of hosting from OVH, or do something else with a remote VPS tool. He wants to chit-chat about pc hardware but he never really reads what I say.. he just types and ignores whatever I type mostly. He thinks hes the only important person in the conversation / world I guess. Now on to the issues... First off there was a time when I accidentally started IPFW (FreeBSD firewall) without setting rules.. so it locked all incoming connections from entering the server. These companies seem to have some software that allows them in with a "backdoor" style entry for situations like this. I asked him to disable the IPFW or do something about this so I can connect again..a simple contact of OVH would be enough for this to be resolved.. but what did he do? He told me that I am not a managed customer, so he can't do anything for me. I tried to explain to him that this was not "management", that I could not connect at all because the server was blocking all incoming connections. He wouldn't budge, but he was sure rude by calling me "stupid" and "idiot" during the process. He said that I had an attitude with him because I was explaining how this was not management. I did not use rude language, I did not curse or insult him in any way. Then he told me he can setup a remote SSH thing on his website for me to use, he gave me the information to connect to it but it was improperly configured. Something was wrong with the partitions which I also did not know how to fix. This was not a problem by me, but something he did wrong when setting up this remote connection thing he uses. Eventually I had to have him completely re-install the server, losing all of my work so far. I had to go on and wait a long time to upload my files and configure things and install ports and etc...While the initial mistake was on my behalf, he could have atleast done something rather than tell me "you are unmanaged". That was not a management issue. The first date I payed him was 11/27. When 12/23 came up I payed him again early. on the 28th the server randomly shut off, leaving all my players in the dark about what was going on. This is very bad for what I host because they are immature players and mostly children, they assume I shut it off and that I won't be bringing it back.. Also the people who understand it isn't my fault think that I don't know how to administrate the server because of this mistake by CobraHost. What happened was he was having "Bank issues", something about a frozen account. He gave me no warning at all prior to this happening.. It took about 5 hours for him to get the problem resolved, he use some kind of special points he had saved up at OVH to "extend it for 1 more week". If that's what he wanted to do to get it back on that's fine with me, but I payed 60GBP on the 23rd to him, so I should have a whole month of service. How he gets his bills payed isn't my problem. I did my part by paying him 60GBP on the 23rd. Now on 1/4/2012 the server is off again while I'm asleep. I contacted him on msn and this is what he told me: Reseller gave me an answer: This was almost 2 hours after it shut off, and about 30 minutes after contacting him. http://i.imgur.com/3fXuu.png http://i.imgur.com/xGEnZ.png Now on 1/25 I have seen much more rude behaviour from this kid, I made a ticket stating that the OVH server I rent from him should have 1TB space according to the kimsufi site. It has 1 TB but it's improperly partitioned. I asked what the solution would be or what the deal is with that, since I payed for 1 TB but I'm not getting it. He told me the server is unmanaged so he can't help me. This is stupid, I didn't ask for management (once again) but to get what I'm paying for instead. He had offered me 15% off last time he let the server go down, and now he sent be a bill of 60GBP (the normal price), it should have been 51 GBP (because of the 15% off due to his failure to keep my server on even though I payed him). He told me this: "As already explained in the other ticket OVH are now in charge of this service not us you can log in and pay OVH directly from now on." So what's the purpose then of using a reseller??? This is what he told me: "The server has been pushed over to your own account, you will have to contact OVH regarding this, all bills from now on will be paid directly to OVH not us." Overall, I suggest to not even bother with this childish reseller/hoster. And to confirm what other people wondered, he IS the person behind *******. I have no idea about the company -- only that they have bad remarks on this forum and others. But the one thing I do know is he told me all about how he was ******* and they are now Cobrahost and all this crap.. He contantly pms me on msn with his QQing with screenshots and links to threads on different forums, and screenshots of other customer's tickets to laugh at them and show how he just tells them the same thing every time "you can't attempt to blame us for your mistake..." etc.. etc.. And he is one of the most rude people I've ever come across in server hosting business. He was begging me a couple times actually to post good things about him on this forum and others even if I have to "say some bad stuff too". He gave me access to a German VPS when I got hosting with him so I can have another mirror to host a download I offered users, then he shut it off later and I asked what's going on and he said something about issues with the German company. Then he never told me but it is infact back up, I had just found out yesterday when making the ticket about my dedicated server not having the correct amount of hard drive space. I'm done with the smart mouth kid, for good. I'll move on to "something else" which I am able to host directly with a hoster rather than use resellers I guess. I was forced to use a reseller in this situation because of particular conditions. But I have already decided by this point I'm done with the thing I'm hosting and done with Chris Parker. an update: Now my server is offline already. The bill would normally be payed on the 27th but he had OVH shut the server off it seems. And he also didn't notify me. Because I gave a review on this site must be the reason.. http://i.imgur.com/jPqJw.png
