Posted by HostiaWeb, 01-24-2006, 01:25 PM
Hey, i am looking for a good server management company. platinum server management sounds good to me and price is good too, i am wondering if someone has a server managed by them already? acc. to them they were formarly known as Fast Server Management. please share your reviews and experiences with them, if any. also recommend other good server management companies, if any. thanks for your time

There are plenty of threads about it them.. You should have searched.. I've used them for about a month & they've been great.. Can't go wrong with that price!

I have used them for about 4 months now and you cannot beat the price for thier service. Highly reccommend them for support

We've used them before we started to in-house everything. They are pretty good and I'd recommend them.

Thread moved to Managed Hosting.

I've never used them, so I can't say they are good or bad. There are many reviews here about them though. We've always used Server Wizards for anything that we don't do in-house, and we've always been happy with their support.

I have a question. Suppose you have a DDOS attack in one of your servers, will they be there to help you out?

Posted by adam, 02-17-2006, 01:37 AM
They can most likely do some filtering but hardware is the best way to stop a DDOS or atleast slow it down.

Posted by Central Dispatch, 02-19-2006, 12:55 PM
If you have time, please elaborate on that Adam. What kind of hardware would really help build a nice shield against such attacks?

Posted by AcuNett, 02-19-2006, 02:18 PM
You really cannot do much against a DDoS attack. The datacenter can help mitigate the attack, but even then they cannot stop it entirely. The hardware Adam is referring to is probably the likes of Cisco Guard which prices ~ $75,000 Mod_evasive will help slightly, not enough to make any sort of difference.

you have to remember you can still saturate the port.

HostWebs, Their was a very large thread on WHT concerning DDOS mitigation. If you want to know more I suggest reading everything in that thread to get a good grasp on the issue. And as ciscomike has said, and in which I fully agree.. DDOS mitigation/IDS and such technologies will likely show a lot of progress this year. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=473172

I signed up for these guys yesterday and haven't heard anything from them. I'm waiting to have my new machine setup. Any idea how long they usually take to get the ball rolling on a new account?

Thank you!

I have been with them for almost a year, and so far they've been great!

I like PSM myself, they have a somewhat slow response time. But, they get the job done. Hands down I like them more than Server Wizards, and for the price... Worth it....

Unlimited Admin Time, and Friendly People. Each time I've had to submit a ticket, I would've paid $49 per instance just to get the situation RESOLVED. They charge $29 / mo for unlimited support.. Hell, they could charge double, and they'd keep my business.

Two words about PSM sum it up..... THE BEST!
