Fed up with these slow servers

Posted by Glostar, 01-31-2013, 03:39 AM
I am fed up with these slow servers from reseller hosting providers such as hostgator, hostnine, eleven2, ... I am waited patiently months, years for improve server speed but no resolution. Does exist fast reseller server in nature? Do I have to go to VPS?

VPS is a far better way to go, although it requires you to have some server management skills.

Just go with a quality provider and avoid these "unlimited" for everything or sell them cheaply and stack them high type providers and you should be fine

It would be better if you provide some information such as no. of your client accounts ,space, bandwidth using & finally budget so that we could suggest better host as per your requirements. VPS could be a better choice yet not for all .Cpanel license will only cost you around $15/month along with VPS charges if even you are planning to buy unmanaged server . Good luck.

What are the symptoms you're seeing? Are websites slow to load? Is cPanel slow?

I bet with the price you pay for reseller you could get vps with whm/cpanel. Granted I'd suggest looking for provider with lightspeed which is bit more faster then apache

I would recommend that you go with a reseller provider that gives you defined limits for disk space and bandwidth and uses LiteSpeed and CloudLinux this may cost you more money in the short term but you should see an improvement in speed. If you had interest in setting up a server etc. then perhaps you could look at a VPS package.

Reseller Hosting = Oversold shared hosting servers. It is cost saving but can disappoint you when it comes to quality. You should consider a VPS for your clients based on what you & your clients want. With a VPS, you can actually customize it with stuff you need and exclude things you don't need. If you and your clients hardly use any features from your control panel, you don't have to bother getting Cpanel but can instead use a free control panel. But this would mean that either you or your provider will manage everything for you via command line since no control panel is as awesome as Cpanel. Making a VPS work is not big deal, you need a host who can manage it for you. If your host can optimize your VPS and tweak it to perfection, you can make even a budget VPS do wonders

Go with good reseller provider like mddhosting or ezpzhostingg u would see the different

You can't build a quality hosting on services which are advertised with huge discounts or "free" addons, i.e. like most advertises on WHT.

If you end up on an oversold VPS node, the same issues can occur.

You're choosing hosts are notoriously known for overloading their servers to death, especially Eleven2 CrocWeb is correct -- You can expect the same result by choosing a VPS host that overloads their servers. That's something that a lot of people don't understand. They're with a cheap hosting provider that has crowded servers and they think that switching over to a VPS would solve the problem. No, not unless it's Xen. (Which the hosts you listed doesn't seem to offer) My suggestion is to do some research and choose a host that doesn't overload their servers as much. Try EZPZHosting; they're well known, respected and recommended here

You'd probably have to test different options to see if they are what you're looking for.

You definitely need to go with a provider that has clearly defined limits, as their servers tend to not be oversold like the unlimited providers. There are several reliable hosts that provide reseller plans here on WHT. Just take a look in the offers forum and check for reviews on any host you are considering.

A VPS should not be necessary unless your reseller account is exceeding its TOS appointed limits. Our reseller servers should be just as fast as our VPS servers and in fact should be faster in many cases. Especially cases in which you choose a lower tier VPS with restricted CPU/memory usage. Using our reseller offering will allow you to 'burst' to a pretty high limit on Ivy Bridge CPU's which will be superior to pretty much any VPS except very expensive ones. VPS' to me are basically for a reseller account which either needs more flexibility in being able to modify the environment or as a bridge between a reseller account and a dedicated server for price reasons. If you have a reseller account with us (HostGator) and its performing slowly -- something is wrong and we need to be ticketed. Honestly our monitoring team should find and resolve the issue proactively. There could also be an issue in your script or one of your accounts which is slipping by unnoticed causing the slowdown. Either way we can help -- can you provide me your ticket ID with us concerning this slow reseller account?

Care to quantify that statement please? You've just accused every single OpenVZ provider of providing a crappy oversold service. I'd like to know where this information and experience comes from. Edit: ..and going by the services you offer, you've just shot yourself in the foot as well. "Don't buy our VPS services as they are oversold" - GVH™

I think OP should provide more information about there experience with mentioned host as it seems to be incomplete & everyone trying to interpret the thread in there own way . Without complete information no one here will able to help in good way as OP thinking .Every webhost has it own TOS to limit resources/user & maintain fair usage policy . VPS or Dedicated or New reseller host ,overall decision will depend on information OP going to provide .Information in the sense about there experience with mentioned host, support response & finally server status . Waiting for OP response so that we could help them. Edited : budget will also play imp role .

I meant that in a 100% chance perspective. As in, with Xen, you can be 100% sure that your hosts' nodes are not oversold. I apologize for the confusion, I should have stated this in the first place.

You are experiencing slow sites in all of these providers? That seems strange but what kind of sites you are running? How much traffic you are getting?
