Managed Dedicated Server?

Posted by cdhs, 12-16-2006, 02:51 AM
Hi guys, I already own a "VPS Solo" @ Servint and now ready to get another server (preferably Dedicated). My options to get another server @ Servint are Solo VPSpro Server or an ES1-950 (http://www.servint.net/dedicated/). Both cost $199/month with $99 setup. I think dedicated gives me more power and juice. I would like to know if I can get similar configuration for around same price? I have no problem with Servint (they are great), but I am looking for another host just for redundancy. Thanks for your time.

Did you check the dedicated offers here in WHT already? You can find a lot of providers that can offer the same with servint. You can also use the host quote above. Goodluck! net

The ServInt server is good, but take care that in addition to the $199 you'll also need to pay extra for Cpanel or Plesk

Is that Servint dedicated full managed?

Servint's page says it is fully managed: "Fully managed service with 24/7 support by phone and email". However, it is always a good idea to check with the provider to see what their definition of "fully managed" is since it does vary from host to host.

Thanks for all the replies. I did not look at the offers from other hosts in the forum, untill suggested by net. Thanks Caronet-Hesham for the heads up on that. I did see it, but forgot all about it. WiredTree - Yes I checked with them After looking at the managed hosting offers, I think liquidweb will be a good contender as well. I will research more about their support, reviews here on wht. Please feel free to share any of your experiences or suggestions. Thanks

My experience with Servint was good for more than 1 year. I only left because of the price (I needed to cut some prices), because the service was really great. When I left Bob Farmer sent me a really nice message that I really appreciate it. A good person

Hi, If you are very certain about going for a managed server then make sure that the meaning of 'managed' is the same as you believe. Many service providers offers that their servers are fully managed but the truth is that the word 'managed' is conditional. You will understand this only when you go through some sort of issues after taking the server.
