Anyone know if alterahosting is down?

Posted by i89i, 03-11-2008, 12:51 AM
anyone know why alterahosting is down and what's going on? I have customers asking me and I can't get or give good answers. I thought readysetconnect bought out alterahosting. Readysetconnect told me they stopped using alterahosting 3 years ago. They told me reset my ns to an IP number, yet no results. Anyone have a number to call Dan? (alterahosting) Or other info?

Here is the message I received from readysetconnect: Hi, We haven't used the altera domain for at least three years now. Regarding your site, you'll need to update the nameserver IPs. We moved servers last month and had notices posted both in cpanel/whm, and also had an email sent out prior to the move. Please set the nameserver IP to the following: ns1: 67.228.21.86 ns2: 67.228.21.87 Regards, Christopher Airey ReadySetConnect Technical Support Yet I get this error when I change it to their NS nRRPResponseCode 533 Nameserver ns1.67.228.21.86 cannot be registered Am I missing something? Also there are no results from google with this address

Try running a DNS report to see where the failure lies.

Please set the nameserver IP to the following" Where would I go to at enom to do this, I have tried Directing the NS IP in the host records and I get the following error: Address: 67.228.21.87 cannot be an IP. The address must be defined host name or fully qualified domain name. And directed the DNS server settings and I get the following errors: nRRPResponseCode 533 Nameserver ns1.67.228.21.87 cannot be registered Any clues? Any idea why the IP address is not using words? Thanks AMY, it appears I would not even know what I was looking at if I had the report in my face Yes I am working on finding how I contact my account rep that manages my enom account. Seems my account was sold to another company and I only find invoices, no other contact info, meaning I need to tract down info, to then track down info, and I am looking through enoms help data base, but so far I have tried the things they suggest, still searching... http://whois.domaintools.com/readysetconnect.com From here I can see that there is a dan email. You could dig this nameservers and see if your domain is in there. Also i think that you cant register ips as nameservers. Its usualy ns1.somedomain.com.

You have to ask him the DNS addresses, not IPs, as tix3 said, somethign like: ns1.nameserver.com

yes I have asked for the names and not numbers, the reply I recieved was: You cannot set the nameserver IPS to ns1.[IP]. I was referencing your ns1.newbieshost.xxx and ns2.newbieshost.xxx nameservers. You simply need to switch the IPs for the old nameservers. So change the IP for ns1.newbieshost.xxx to 67.228.21.86 and ns2.newbieshost.xxx to 67.228.21.87. Any clue to what this means and where to find in in enom?

I sent this and am waiting for a reply, Anyone see if this sounds odd? (Is it me not doing something right)? When I tried to log onto newbieshost.xxx/cpanel (not /whm) I see this error: The server at 67.228.21.87 is taking too long to respond. Does this IP address ring a bell? I did check my host records and 67.228.21.87 is the redirected IP address. and: Does is seem odd I can log onto newbieshost.xxx/whm but not newbieshost.xxx/cpanel And when logging onto newbieshost.xxx/whm I don't see my accounts?

UPDATE:[/B][/U] FELLOW WHT Members, does it make sense that I can log onto newbieshost.xxx/whm with my user ID and password, with NOT having set the IP numbers correctly? It this possible? Something does not appear right. I keep thinking there is something funny going on here. It's not like I'm logging onto just an IP address. When I log onto the /whm account, just who is hosting it? I do see what appears to be /cpanel but not the webhostmaster panel. I just know there is a simple answer to all of this head banging. Does it not appear that the host would need to load my data back into my account?

Did you register your nameservers in Enom previously? I mean ns1.newbieshost.xxx and ns2.newbieshost.xxx with previous IP addresses

Ignore my previous post, cannot edit it anymore. I found that your name servers are registered in Enom. So to update them do the following: - Login your Enom account - Goto Domains > Advanced Tools > Register a name server In the Update a NameServer IP section, enter these values (xxx is your extension): ns1.newbieshost.xxx 67.19.152.97 67.228.21.86 click submit. Repeat it for the second name server with these values: ns2.newbieshost.xxx 66.246.50.210 67.228.21.87 let me know how did it go...
