How long is the wait for WHM set up

Posted by DemonHunterx, 12-15-2015, 09:33 PM
Hi, was wondering if it is normal to wait for more than 24hrs for Managed VPS to set up WHM? Currently, I am only able to login to my account to see the server usage and things. Am still waiting for the WHM to be installed. Already open a ticket, but was told to stand by 17 hrs ago. I am still standing by.

In my experience it varies by provider, but in all the times I've bought VPS with Cpanel it's done at the same time as the VPS is provisioned. It's brought on line, the tech starts the install, and you get the info once that's done. The install can take a while, but licensing should be quick.

Hmm ok, because I already sign up like 24 hrs ago. I read in their knowledge base to give them 2 hrs for them to set up the WHM. However, I am waiting from yesterday till now and the page is still blank. I start to feel disappointed in the support now... sigh. I really wonder how long more should I be waiting...

If that's done manually, it takes around 2 hours to install cPanel/WHM and configure it.

Sigh. I had already send a support ticket yesterday after about 5 hrs without any update. And now, I send 2 message but there are no reply from them at all. I am really starting to lose hope. Any recommendation on what I can do other than waiting?

I think it really depends on the management level - are they just installing cPanel or are they doing configurations, testing etc. Some providers test everything including backups before providing the server to the customer.

I think they are installing the WHM and cpanel. I have no idea if they are testing everything before providing to the customer. But I do know that in their knowledge base page, they wrote that it takes up to 2hrs for WHM/Cpanel to be installed. Well...

It can be done less than 24 hours to install and secure everything but if they are busy, this can take a while.

Thanks. I see. So I don't have a choice but to wait. I wonder up to how long I should be waiting in the case...

Im having the same issue as well with a company. it would be nice if they would at least give a ready as to why this process is taking so long. I know im not the only customer. even if it was their fault or they were behind a simple update when asked would go a long way.

Sad to see that I am not the only 1 here that is in the waiting game. Sigh.

I've seen cpanel take up to an hour to install, sometimes longer on slower servers, but if it's taking all day it's probably because your host is doing this manually.

It must be manual then. Because it feels like I am still waiting for some miracle to happen.

Hi, it is TMZ VPS. I had sign up with a managed VPS with them and it has been 30 hrs and WHM is still not installed yet. I am starting to lose all hope and wonder if I should cancel the service.

SolusVM sometimes goes crazy with strong passwords. That is why we have put up the instructions here: https://www.tmzvps.com/why-tmzvps/instant-setup/ Please make sure to follow those guidelines on your future order to take advantage of the instant/automated setup!

I could see that your VPS got a bad setup, this happens once in a few months. Your VPS has been re-provisioned.

Posted by DemonHunterx, 12-16-2015, 03:29 AM
Well, seem like I did all the 3 steps of the guide thou... So to put it clear, I need to do a certain step on top of that guide in order for instant set up?

Posted by LinuxFox, 12-16-2015, 03:32 AM
Ah no, sometimes the SolusVM module does this. It was your bad luck. Your VPS has been re-created. Your billing date has also been adjusted.

Posted by DemonHunterx, 12-16-2015, 03:32 AM
Hmm, bad setup was the reason? Well, i think i do not have much choice here and I should expect more waiting I assume...

Yes, after 32hrs of waiting. WHM has been installed. Now, I can start to try this VPS and really hope it is worth the wait...

Apologies for the inconvenience, SolusVM sometimes does this. Let us know if you need anything else. - Daniel
