I have narrowed my search to either amazon ec2 or vps .net, any one with experience from either or maybe both have any feedback or redommendations?

Ryan,
I am evaluating a lot of cloud hosts at the moment and will soon be posting my results. vps.net and amazon are part of my evaluation.
I am currently having issues with vps.net. Hopefully they can get them figured out, but the control panel and their ticket support have been a little frustrating.
If you need live/phone/quick support for your server I would not suggest either one.

Having used both Amazon and VPS.net I'd prefer VPS.net for its usability. I was not impressed with the EC2 control panel at all.

They are both quite different options.
vps.net is more 'familiar' from a hosting point of view and, in my opinion much simpler to use.
EC2 is more techie focussed and, as a result, quite a bit more complex to get up and running

Sorry you're having problems with one of our clouds. It's an extremely isolated issue that'll be fixed in a few hours and is only effecting creation of a new cloud vps in one location. The problem isn't with the infrastructure itself, but with the licensing part of our cloud vps creation page.

VPS was easy to use and upgrade then downgrade. I did that just to see how easy it was. I was in the London UK DC (if anyone was wondering) and got good speeds to the East Coast USA

is EC2 still getting DDoSed? I hear it still is but not to the magnitude it was during the wikileaks thing.... I have also heard they charge a lot for support though.... can anyone confirm how EC2's support is?
