EZZI network 11/23

Posted by EZZI net, 11-23-2003, 10:03 AM
Just wanted to be the first to post, if you went down just now it is because of a failed UPS or generator, we arent sure yet as the building hasnt told us details. We have been working with the building since the last major blackout on getting our own equipment and that has been moving along, a lot slower than we could ever expect. Trust us we have been pushing and pushing but they arent very easy to deal with. We will keep you posted and very sorry for the inconvenience. These power issues with this building have been rough on all of us.

Why do you not notify your clients of the work going on in advance when there is a possible cause for downtime? When will the servers be back online? This is is getting a bit out of hand with all the downtime you had this week.

Are we going to get refunds!? This is the second time now, ive paid for some advertising and now its just going to waste! How can so many problems occur within a week? Last edited by IdleServ; 11-23-2003 at 10:51 AM.

just phoned them up to see whats going on, and it seems that there's a power outage at their DC. Just thought i'd let all the people who have boxes there know, so they can stop stressing and let there customers know whats going on 17 so3-0-0-2488M.ar1.JFK1.gblx.net (67.17.72.18) 268.555 ms 297.047 ms 285.362 ms 18 216.128.66.68 (216.128.66.68) 273.648 ms 297.646 ms 266.174 ms 19 * * * 18 0010.gi1-1.msfc1.tlw.nac.net (209.123.11.230) 326.196 ms 327.219 ms 325.230 ms 19 ezzinet.customer.nac.net (66.246.115.242) 325.666 ms 327.705 ms 324.422 ms 20 * * *

Terrible to hear. Good luck to Ezzi in getting it back up ASAP. Anyway this should be in network outages.

While the notice here is appreciated, perhaps an e-mail to customers would be good as well. Didn't we complain about this lack of e-mail response the last time the generators went out, when it seemed a whole bunch of us here on WHT were not included in the official distro?

Posted by DCM, 11-23-2003, 11:09 AM
Um, you might want to change your sig. Doesn't seem very redundant to me.

By sending mails, the ones who didn't notice they were down, can complain. They don't want that. I lost my new pagerank from Google because he couldn't find my sites. Have to wait another 5-6 weeks until the next update. I hope Ezzi can keep it floating for a few more weeks. Then I am gone. Server is OK, support is OK. The rest isn't.

Power is back up, if your server is not on within 30 minutes... please let us know your root password, means it didnt boot up... through live chat or the support system.

I'm still waiting for the downtime explaination from the other day (11-20). The network status page said all customers would be given an explaination the following day (11-21) but I have yet to receive any details on that one... Now I am supposed to wait for the details on this one?

Just wanted to notice that if you will not request a refund for the downtimes they will not refund you. But does the refund really compensate ?!

Posted by propcgamer, 11-23-2003, 03:19 PM
I have been trying to e-mail billing for all the downtimes in the past month and i have not been getting ANY responses whatsoever, i even resended them and didnt get any response, whats the deal and how come you guys never explain anything or really tell us well, it seems that WE find out about outages before you guys figure it out

i'll just point out my subnet is STILL down. 5 hours and counting now. Day after i get my own equipment, hell freezes over

Posted by rotmax, 11-23-2003, 04:01 PM

I am still having problems with my server. All is very very slow. I called Ezzi and "there is only a low level technician available !!!!!" This is what they call support. I already ordered a server somewhere else today, because I am really had enough of Ezzi. Ezzi is a disaster.

EZZI is great when it is online, and their servers are excellent.

Posted by Eric, 11-24-2003, 04:53 PM
That's for sure, it is a great and fast network when online. By the way, they updated the status page: Because of 2 squirrels ... it reminds me of Scrat from the movie Ice Age, always making trouble Oh well, let's hope we will be more lucky in the future

Well, I did have a mole take out my home power in June. He was toasted but good when we dug him up.

Posted by AKavanaugh, 11-24-2003, 10:38 PM
I'd love to know how a squirrel managed to get near the power equipment....oh man, I can't stop laughing at this one.

Posted by CCorderoR, 11-26-2003, 03:32 PM
Hi: After reading the e-mail... and when i could stop laughing, i've prepared a detailed report about the downtimes this month (November). Total time is 7hours 30 minutes. We've canceled the server we had with Ezzi, and ask them for a refund for the hours. After 6 hours nothing. We will wait a few days, and if they don't answer, we will make a chargeback for the entire month... and after that we're sure they will end us an email Regards, Carlos

We just migrated 2 servers away from Ezzi for a customer. He couldn't take it anymore.
