This should be in the Network Outages forum, but anyway, I can't ping the domain, and I'm getting an Error 11002 getting hostname. Looks like it's not even online at all.

We were down for less than 2 hours. Techs are at the data center investigating what went wrong. We will post updates on the company forum.

It has been less than two hours... I have been monitoring as well. These guys have always been Johnny on the spot so I am sure we will get the full detail very shortly. And I am certain if they can find a way to prevent or avoid this problem in the future they will make the necessary changes as they have always provided great service and have been easily accessible at almost all times.

I'm sure that the were busier than a *ahem* well endowed billy goat, but it would have been nice if they would have returned my telephone calls, even if just to say "yes, we are aware of the problem and are working on it". Even a temporary modification of the stock telephone answering machine message would have sufficed.

We are about to reboot our router, and the network may be down for 5-10 minutes, as we are adding new security to the router.

Well the main problem was that the monitor machine.. Which does our mail was under the ddos attack.. Then a problem with the router dumped the network.. The router has been fixed and the monitor machine is back online.. We are looking at were we can improve from this now.

Second day at the same time! Strange ...

They put a new card in the APC and it went a little nuts. Looks like they are trying to find alternative hosting for their forums also, which is something all hosts should do.

Everything is still down for me......... Thanks, Td

Posted by zennix, 02-20-2004, 05:59 PM
Td - My sites are down as well. Seems the only thing working is the RC site. I guess I assumed since their forums were up that everyone else's sites were also. Wrong is me!

The third day! Down..down...down...

Posted by jfebus, 02-21-2004, 08:44 PM
Now I understand why they got surprised when I signup for a year!

Posted by zennix, 02-21-2004, 08:52 PM
Oh well, time to look for another host.

Posted by artvision, 02-21-2004, 09:04 PM
I think, that you hasten a little ... I don't know about hosts without downtimes!

Posted by jfebus, 02-21-2004, 09:12 PM
still down! I really hate to switch hosts....

Posted by zennix, 02-21-2004, 09:17 PM
Downtime is not the issue, three days in a row is the issue. Three days in a row is not acceptable. I do not care why they are down, who is at fault, what equipment messed up, which upgrade did not go as planned, or any other excuse they can dish out. I just expect things to work, downtime once in a while is while never good, at least realistic and to be expected. Three days in a row means I am wasting my ad money, my clients are getting pissed, and it is time to find a new host.

I agree with you.. Three days in a row is unacceptable. We will continue to try and inprove our service so that this never happens again.. The reason it happend was a recent exploit released for apc's it enabled them to turn off the power ports and cause problems with the nic cards. We have blocked all access to the apc's now and the network is stable again. The only thing I can offer is that we reponded to the situation as quickly as possible and were open and honest.
