TheRealms.NetWorks/QuincyHost/Cyberbite/Intrelix hosting down...

Posting this here before anyone else does, so that people are aware. Sadly, the main server was hit by the "stealth" worm going around. I'm not exactly sure of when it happened or how it happened, but it happened around 6:45 PM tonight. All customers on Alpha are affected by this outtage, I am working as hard as I possibly can to get the server back up and operational ASAP. I have ordered a Priority Server Restore, and will be restoring the most recent backups I have of everyone's site. Last backups were generated around Noon time, EST on 17-March-2004. A couple sites will have a higher restoration priority, otherwise all accounts will be restored in alphabetical order. All customers on Beta are unaffected, though members of Fractured.net will experience some downtime while propogation to new Name Servers takes effect. For all my customers on Alpha, I am truly sorry that you are experiencing this downtime. I am absolutely frantic, as all email accounts that I own are tied onto Alpha. I will be offering credits and refunds on a case by case basis for those that ask for them. Thank you for your time.

Any updates on this outage?

Yep, I have full control over the server after a complete OS reinstall. I am in the middle of reconfiguring and securing the server down now. After server has been reconfigured, I'll be restoring accounts and checking everyone's settings and sites individually.

Update: I am still restoring accounts, though I am now 60% through. I am intent on ONLY restoring customer sites right now. Resellers will have their access back tomorrow, though their individual sites are coming online as I restore them. I apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this has caused. I will be posting an update on the forums with exactly what happened after we get everyone operational and review a few other things shortly.

All customer web hosting accounts were restored in full by 10 PM last night. All Reseller accounts will be restored by Monday morning, 9 AM EST or sooner. This will be my final update on this until I post the formal announcement outlining what happened, and what steps we will be taking over the next few weeks/months to safeguard ourselves, and to provide a very object lesson for those that are new to the hosting business industry.
