Some routes seem to be seeing extremely high packet loss (71% from trytel up in ottawa).

Posted by cyberwisdom, 06-17-2004, 10:57 PM
I have a server that has an ip class of 66.79.x.x and it's has about 50% packet loss right now. It's really driving me nuts. It works for a few minutes then it goes bonkers again. For the past few months they've had great uptime on that server(except for a couple minor glitches).

Posted by jdoverclock, 06-17-2004, 11:12 PM
my server just went down a few minutes ago (65.75.184.*) and it looks as if the main managed.com site is completely offline.

Posted by DeltaAnime, 06-17-2004, 11:13 PM
yup, 66.79.190.x is up and down A shame, i haven't had any problems for months

34% packet loss on the xo route. edit: 42%

Posted by RHChristian, 06-18-2004, 11:45 PM
Seems like its back to normal, for now.

Posted by important, 06-20-2004, 04:53 PM

Posted by ThaPrince, 06-20-2004, 05:18 PM
Their Gig-E to XO is having issues. Anyone that has routes that prefer them will see packet loss until they corect the problem. -jon

Posted by Cirtex, 06-20-2004, 05:41 PM
well, at least their main site is loading.

Posted by hostace, 06-20-2004, 06:04 PM

Posted by Nathan D., 06-20-2004, 06:07 PM
I have never had a problem with managed.com that wasn't my fault until now. Unfortunately it's sunday and everyone probably fell asleep at there desk...WAKE UP! lol

Posted by hostbox, 06-20-2004, 06:11 PM
That's Correct, it is going slow here too. Contacting a Mod to move this to outages forums.

Posted by Veus, 06-20-2004, 06:15 PM
Our server was rebooted even though we didnt request it and now its not coming back as the power cycle didnt respond. They need to send an engineer, it had better not be till tomorrow.

Posted by webtech, 06-20-2004, 06:28 PM
Manged.com doesn't have onsite engineers?

Posted by webtech, 06-20-2004, 06:34 PM

Ours seems to be working now. Speeds dont seem bad. edite: only one of our domains work. Not sure if it has to do with managed though. Last edited by hostfreak; 06-20-2004 at 08:34 PM.

AngelNetworkz.net IP blocks 205.209.*.* aren't down

Posted by RackRhino, 06-20-2004, 09:26 PM
Well they havent had much problems since Feb, So four months uptime is good enough for me. Lets just hope it stableizes shortly.

Posted by lackeroom, 06-20-2004, 09:35 PM
it looks like they didnt even notice it

Posted by Sinko, 06-20-2004, 09:37 PM
My server which is 68.75.xxx.xxx is down as well.

Posted by Dan Grossman, 06-20-2004, 09:38 PM
My 65.75.* (purchased through angelnetworkz) has been experiencing packet loss on and off today several times. Right now I'm averaging 75% loss and can't really do business.

Posted by mainarea, 06-20-2004, 09:38 PM
Managed.com has no Gig-E to Broadwing. They have a Gig-E to Assertive Networks and a Gig-E to XO. Assertive has a mix of providers, including Abovenet, Bungi, and Broadwing. No new lines have been brought up at Managed.com - Matt

Posted by jerry12304, 06-20-2004, 09:44 PM
im having problems as well now,..its up and down for me.. edit : its up now but really really slow

Posted by NovceGuru, 06-20-2004, 09:50 PM
yeah same here, still to much packetloss to login

Posted by Iggy, 06-20-2004, 09:53 PM
Hmm, 3 times in 2 days. Any idea what they're attempting to do? Iggy

Posted by joshiee, 06-20-2004, 09:54 PM
Ping statistics for 65.75.170.50: Packets: Sent = 59, Received = 29, Lost = 30 (50% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 23ms, Maximum = 57ms, Average = 30ms cant be good

Posted by NovceGuru, 06-20-2004, 09:58 PM
there should be a wht chat somewhere but then it would just be whiney people complaining all the time with 90% of the time its them that cant admin a server correctly

Posted by GMoore7, 06-20-2004, 09:58 PM
I'm getting 100% losses right now on my box.... It's probably just a network issue that needs fixing... I doubt they are trying to add a new line in the middle of the weekend ~Garrett

Posted by jerry12304, 06-20-2004, 09:58 PM
I just got an e-mail from my admin: The network in California is under going massive maintenance at the current time. We have not been provided an official word from them at this time either, from the looks of what we can see it seems they are changing bandwidth providers. We have no ETA at this time as we are not able to reach any one in their NOC.

Posted by joshiee, 06-20-2004, 10:00 PM
I cant even get a traceroute back from my server =/

Posted by Nathan D., 06-20-2004, 10:01 PM
It's no so much the fact that this is happening...It's the fact that they can't tell us what is going on...Or that they don't answer their phones. Someone has to be onsite at all times. There is no way they could not have someone there at all times. That would be ridiculous.

Posted by GMoore7, 06-20-2004, 10:07 PM
There is always someone there, but there isn't necessarily MANY people there... You let me know if you can run the phones, troubleshoot support tickets, and make changes to servers all at the same time while the network fluctuates in and out from working If you can do that, I'll hire you and pay you $300,000.00 a year ~Garrett

Posted by jerry12304, 06-20-2004, 10:07 PM
Thats was my exact feeling, i dont undestand how they can tell us whats going on.We have to guess everytime. I tried to call and 97% of the time the phone is busy..

Posted by Iggy, 06-20-2004, 10:15 PM
Well, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt cause my experience with managed has been different than most of what I see posted here. When I've asked for help they've done it quickly and the network has been stable for months now. But for the record if anybody at Managed happens to read this thread, if this is a planned upgrade some notice would be nice. If it's unplanned maintenance an explanation would go a long way to staving off conjecture and whining about your companies competence and professionalism. Plus, you're killing me this weekend guys... Iggy

Posted by Dan Grossman, 06-20-2004, 10:15 PM
There is a link to WHTIRC.com on every page of WHT Official chat room. Not gonna help us get managed.com to fix their network

Posted by Mfjp, 06-20-2004, 10:30 PM
There's no annoucement via XO. Trace from XO goes thru broadwing.

Posted by Iggy, 06-20-2004, 10:32 PM
Of course right AFTER I post it's back up with 0 packetloss. OK. I can deal with that. Now to get on with what I was doing Iggy

Posted by Nathan D., 06-20-2004, 10:42 PM
Looks good now..about 10 minutes ago I called and was yelling at them (more like yelling at the answering machine). I think that did the trick

Posted by joshiee, 06-20-2004, 10:49 PM
Woohoo, thanks Nathan.

My MRTG graph was very unusually (too low) and I even got a email from siteuptime that my HTTP serve was down for some time. Was managed.com down for like 30 mins today or its was just that my server went down!

Posted by Steven, 06-21-2004, 01:12 AM
There was some outages.

Posted by Mark L, 06-21-2004, 01:16 AM
Managed.com was amazingly slow today, some outages tho.

Posted by Kalapadea, 06-22-2004, 12:52 AM
I lost a server to "Error Segmentation" wtf? How could running just HLDS cause segmentation? any ideas? fix? thx.

Posted by demonmoo, 06-22-2004, 01:16 AM
Try asking in the technical forum rather than the network outages forum.

Posted by Compworld, 06-22-2004, 03:03 AM
So I guess buying a dedicated server from them now would not be a good idea?

Posted by Dan Grossman, 06-22-2004, 03:26 AM
100% uptime since mid April at managed. The network problems haven't been horrible -- obviously to have 100% uptime I was never completely offline, just packet loss on three occasions. Hopefully they're just some minor growing pains, since there were no network problems before they started adding more bandwidth providers.
