Glexicon having DNS problems?

Posted by FusionBB, 07-06-2004, 11:47 AM
My domain, hosted by Glexicon seems to be active, but w w w . glexicon . com and forums.glexicon.com seem to be having DNS problems. They do not resolve, and even their own nameservers cannot provide any info on them.

Now my site has disappeared as the Glexicon servers, including nameservers appear to have gone offline. Apparently I'm the lone Glexicon client, and must have missed the memo about their demise.

I can not reach their DNS server's neither. Not a glexicon customer but it seems like their dns servers are down? (Or their entire network?). Traceroute to their dns server ends here with high packet loss: 12 p16-1-0-2.r20.dllstx09.us.bb.verio.net (129.250.4.194) 60.094 ms 70.552 ms 64.404 ms 13 p16-5-0-0.r02.hstntx01.us.bb.verio.net (129.250.5.41) 113.130 ms 73.397 ms 80.133 ms 14 ge-6.ev1.hstntx01.us.bb.verio.net (129.250.10.190) 107.775 ms 74.080 ms 108.536 ms 15 gphou-66-98-241-126.ev1.net (66.98.241.126) 1221.138 ms !H 3940.182 ms !H 4000.479 ms !H

I must have missed the memo as well. When I go to glexicon.com it redirects me to glexicon.com.org I hope it's just a routing issue. I don't want to go through all the hassle again. Ironically, I was double billed a few days ago.

Glexicon is back, sometime around 5pm PST. No word on this or on their own Forum as to why the outage. Perhaps it was just my unfortunate route to glexicon's servers that made it appear offline. But I was unable to get DNS response from local or remote (menandmice.com, siteuptime.com) nameservers. Time to move on, I guess....

These guys are sleaze bags, be careful.

I'll refrain from making any judgements like that, but they do seem to be irresponsible, having disappeared for the past two weeks after announcing a migration/reorganization plan after the Eryxma fiasco. I wish them luck, they probably need it, and have moved on.

I am beginning to fear that these people are incapable of mastering this whole situation. I am glad I decided to move away from them a few months ago already. On their forums there are only very bad messages about sites that are down and refunds not given in time. People are beginning to dispute credit card charges. Also, Glexicon failed (I hope it is not on purpose) to pay their bills to ModernBill, they are behind three payments with a total of (only) $99.80, as can be seen on https://clients.glexicon.com/billing...p?op=renew_key. I wish good luck to all the people that are now hosted by Glexicon...
