CrystalTech Down?

Posted by JenniH, 08-26-2004, 02:38 PM
Everything seems to be down... including www.crystaltech.com! Has anyone any info on this? We didn't receive any notification or anything from them.

I've found a number 1-877-323-HOST on the Google cache of their website. Can someone from the US tell me what numbers the characters HOST map to? Thanks.

Their number is +1 (602) 263-0300

I think it's 4678.... if so, pointless anyway. It sounds like they've took their phones off the hook! Hmm... OK Alain... I'll try that instead. Thanks Except that's engaged too! Hardly surprising.

If you make multiples tries on the number I gave you you'll be able to get a message saying they have "issues with network providers that are worked out". I think you can even speak with someone. Doing a tracert to one of their IPs shows a lot of packet loss on AT&T (70-85%)...

I finally got through on Alain's number (thanks again there).... apparently it's a 'network issue'. They don't have an ETA, but the whole shooting match is down. Given that they host so many sites, including Fortune 500, let's hope it's not a lon gone.

They don't host Fortune500

At least some CT servers are now back online. Shared. Sites I host on dedicated servers are not all the way up yet. Ted Fickes ---------------------------- Eagle River Partners eagleriverpartners dot com

Their routes are not correctly advertised.

>> They don't host Fortune500 << I meant some Fortune500 companies (which is what they advertise). >> At least some CT servers are now back online << We are still off... as is crystaltech.com itself This is fast turning into a significant outage.

You should not believe advertising ;o) Take a look at the bottom of this page: http://www.crystaltech.com/infrastructure.htm In Internet connections they say UUNet, Qwest as bandwith providers. Now ask yourself: - why when AT&T goes down you are not routed through Qwest - why you are never routed through Qwest - why they advertise only AT&T and TWTELECOM on their routers (see their ASn at http://www.fixedorbit.com/AS/14/AS14992.htm) What does grand'ma says ? "It's not lying when they make you lie"... Last edited by alain; 08-26-2004 at 04:05 PM.

Hmm... some thought inducing points there Alain. Actually, some worrying points as well! Anyhow we're back: until the next time. Thanks again for chiming in with the info above.
