Need shared hosting with following....

Posted by Webdude, 04-09-2017, 12:58 PM
Wow, been a while since I was here. Joined 12-23-00 (almost 17 years.. really???), and havent been here in 2-3 years. Lots of people and moderators I dont know lol. Anyway, I need shared hosting that offers all unlimited, ssh, (which is normal these days) and the server have COMPOSER on it for use. Am currently on Hostgator... been there since Brent started it in his garage in Florida.... but since he sold, it's not very lenient or flexible anymore.... hasnt been for a long time now. Cant blame Brent, I sold mine too lol. I think I need a more flexible host though. Looking for recommendations. cPanel is a must so I can move my account easily.

Welcome back, old timer! Your requirement seems standard except for the SSH and unlimited part. Decent shared providers tend to turn it off by default. However, many of them will provide you Jailed SSH access if you ask. For unlimited, there isn't really anything that can be unlimited, except for lies. If fact, 'unlimited' providers tend to have more limits in terms of server resources (RAM, C PU, IO etc.) than the 'limited' providers. If you want to go for it, make sure to ask your provider for a clear idea on the limits.

I know, I used to play the same game. Unlimited space/bandwidth, but actually limited processes, etc. The overselling game.... you have to limit somewhere. So... question.... does or can mechanicsweb support Composer in a shared hosting environment? cPanel? I dont need ssh, but at least need the host to be willing to issue ssh commands that I need.... or possibly just installed the software per the docs because thats probably easier for them. You can read up on requirements for it here. http://flarum.org/docs/installation/

Welcome back, what is your budget in terms of this project and what location are you looking for? PS - Mr Brent Oxley was a stellar individual he used to provide his direct email for customer issues and you could expect a response within 48 hours. After he left is when I personally left HostGator as I seen things start to go sour rather quickly.

I pay $15/mth right now.... and really dont wanna pay more just to test out an idea. If the idea works and is fairly successful, I can upgrade. As for Brent.... yeah things went downhill fast after he sold and left.... but he has a kickass hunting ranch now.... with tanks and everything lol

Haha, I heard about his ranch... as a Vegan not too Happy about it but we will leave that for a different discussion. Have you considered the idea of a Managed VPS? You won't get Cpanel within the $15 Budget but approach and ask a host they would be definitely if they are a Managed host get you all setup. The only thing with composer is having SSH control and if a host would choose to allow that on their Shared Hosting platform.

So lemme ask this, your VPS offers cpanel for another $10/mth. I wouldnt have an issue with that. I currently use slightly over 7 gigs space. If I went with your Micro, is it easily upgraded to a bigger plan later? Does your system offer the ability to move my site from current location to yours? I think this is built into cPanel, but dont remember exactly.... and your vps can support composer, correct? I'm assuming composer has some sort of load impact, hence not offered in a shared environment.

It's ok being a Vegan.... everyone has their faults and I accept that

We are not allowed to self-promote here; nonetheless I am happy to hear you are interested, please reach to our sales team via sales@trentahostcom or via the Sales website livechat on our site. I also want to remind you that; don't just choose providers via signatures or who post on your thread here is the correct method to lookup providers via the following section. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104 Also, composer can be installed on any VPs; just not on a shared host environment; and that's all once again preference by the host.

LOL! I was like oh a complement, nevermind Haha!

Not allowed to promote, but can answer questions directly asked about your company and it's services. Thats one of the purposes (at least by the original founder) of this forum so people didnt have to go deal with every company's support team one on one, they could ask the questions here and talk to multiple companies at once. So I cant say "Who has best hosting" then you come in and promote your company... but I can ask "Does Trentahost, Hostgator, or Bluehost offer [insert here]" and you as a rep of trentahost can answer in regards to your service and questions asked directly about it such as how I did it At least... thats how it was back when I was an admin here...

Ah, I'm not quite sure... don't want to bend any rules. You can by all means reach out to me via PM and I can answer them for you. Would, be my pleasure to address any concerns.

I will when I get back, looking to move services Tuesday or so. Kinda tired of Hostgator. Does your hosting have a demo account for preview? Strangely enough, I've never had a VPS, only shared and full dedicated server. I'll pm my email so you can directly tell me more and answer all my questions.

Sounds great all Cpanel is the same across the board, so it will be exactly like HostGator; easier if you have skype can answer in real time then email tag.

You may want to make a shortlist of hosts of your choice and then contact them about COMPOSER, is impossible to advertise everything that's offered and some other do not offer it by default but may install it upon your request.
