Rebel Networks partners with onAPP

June 24, 2011 - Rebel Networks ( Toronto, Canada)and American Diversified Holdings Corporation subsidiary Rebel Networks (www.rebelnetworks.com) announced on Thursday that it has partnered with cloud hosting platform software developer OnApp (www.onapp.com) to offer cloud hosting infrastructure as a service to both web hosting providers and end user customers.

Rebel networks says its customized cloud services will include both private and public offerings, including servers, SAN storage and bandwidth, built around OnApp’s cloud management software. The company says it will provide web hosting providers with an affordable and simple way to launch their own cloud hosting products.

In presentations at both the Parallels and World Hosting Days conferences this year, representatives from OnApp have detailed some of the costs of entering the cloud market for hosting providers. And, while they’re not astronomically high when using a pre-packaged cloud platform versus developing the platform internally, the up-front infrastructure costs alone are significantly more than the fairly simple entry into the dedicated or shared hosting markets.

Rebel Networks seems to be aiming the reseller piece of its cloud hosting solution at that segment of the hosting business that lacks the resources to make that up-front infrastructure investment.

The company says it currently provides the back-end infrastructure for about 50 dedicated web hosting resellers (servers), many of whom are interested in offering cloud services, but don’t necessarily want to tie their services to another cloud product, such as Amazon’s AWS.

In its press release, Rebel Networks says it is poised to capture thousands of new resellers by offering them a turn-key cloud service based on Dell hardware, Windows or Linux, WHMCS and OnApp.
