Legal Action?

Posted by amiwoj, 09-03-2004, 01:40 AM
Hi. My webpage is being hosted by hdhosting.com Their server is down and they neither reply to my emails or my phone calls. I am seriously losing business. Does anyone have any recommendations? Should I be looking for a lawyer? Can anyone even access hdhosting.com? I'll be grateful for any help. <<< Signatures need to be set up in your profile. >>> Last edited by SoftWareRevue; 09-03-2004 at 02:15 AM.

you should look for another host and get yourself online.

Oh yes. I definitely plan on doing that. It's just that I don't think that they should get away with completely igrnoring their clients after causing them financial and emotional stress. I realize that servers can go down, but to not reply to phone calls, emails and for their support ticketing system to be down too? I think it's pushing it a little. Any thoughts?

I haven't researched it but they are quite possibly a client of AngelNetworkz and you can see what's going on with them just by looking around.

I've actually been on the phone and on the internet all day trying to figure this out. I went to the hosting company of hdhosting.com and got contact information but that didn't get me anywhere... I'll try AngelNetworkz though. Thanks.

I briefly looked into AngelNetworkz but it didn't seem to say anything about hdhosting... I know that enom and namecheap.com are affiliated with them though. I think hdhosting is a reseller of hosting by enom.com - but enom didn't know any more than I did.

You wouldn't find anything about them on AN's site. But, it appears they could be affected by all that. Their (hdhosting) IP is in the hands of managed.com. If you can't contact your provider, I'd suggest you cut your losses now and move on.

when you say they could be affected by all that, what is "all that"?

That would be http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=316498 and http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=316510 To sum it up; if your host is affected and not contacted you, they may not be coming back.

So what does that mean regarding the money I paid for the year of hosting? I have another 9 months to go. Does it go down the drain or is there some way of getting it back? Thanks for all the advice, by the way.

There's no way to get it back aside from contacting your cc company or paypal , and that should only be done as a last resort. Try actually contacting the company itself first, rather than posting here. Unfortunately, if you were hosted directly through AN, you're not going to see a penny of the funds back I'm sure. Next time, use the search button, you might find out more than you care to know about your prospective host.

I don’t understand why anyone would get a lawyer. These are computers and computers sometime break! Does not matter what hosting company you go to sooner or later you will experience downtime of some nature. You have way too many things to over come in the web hosting world. Hackers-Spammers-hardware failure and so on. I always see my host is down !!!!! What shall I do? Why do so many want to play the host game and run on down the road thinking the grass is always greener on the other side? Most of the time you will see them end up here again. If your web host has been treating you good and they just had some server issues the best thing for you to do is contact them. Servers are not immune from something happening to them. We just has a major outage on one of our servers, does this make us a bad host? No stuff happens like this and you can expect an UN planned outage to happen once in a while. If you are losing money I suggest you get an extremely high dollar hosting plan that will maybe give you what you want. Or you can get a dedicated your self and find out exactly what can happen to a server as it will sooner or later. Good luck and don’t jump the gun too quickly because you may find your self on the other end of the rope. Plus most likely a host is covered by the outage because you can not foresee a server going down most of the time. But if your host has went out of business or just does not give a you know what then you may be able to do something about them but chance are they will file bankruptcy.
