site5 down, anyone?

Posted by plal, 09-16-2004, 04:02 AM
I have a site hosted on site5's oceanus server. service has been dodgy today and intermittent. in fact it's down right now and for once, support hasn't responded in the usual 15 to 30 minutes. it's already been 5 hours since i notified them. anyone else with the same problems. i came to site5 just so that i won't have to go through such problems. looks like no one's infallible - either than or i'm jinxed....

Hello Plal, I apologize for any inconvenience, please feel free to send a ticket in to our "Shared" department if you are still having issues, however we should be back up and running. You can submit the ticket here: https://secure.site5.com/support/openticket.php Thanks again. Regards, Taylor

Hello, Oceanus has been online and humming away fine over the last little while. I suspect that this particular user is having regional routing issues or an ISP capacity issue, resulting in them not being able to reach our servers. At the moment oceanus has excellent uptime: If the original poster is still having issues reaching their site, please complete a traceroute from your home/office machine to your domain name and then forward the output in an email to shared@site5.com. Thank you. Todd --

Hello, We respond to all inquires that come into our support queue within 30 minutes and usually a lot less if a ticket is prioritized as high importance (such as a server being offline, etc.). If we received your ticket, we have surely responded to it. If you did not receive an automated reply with a ticket number, please resubmit your email. If you do not receive an automated reply again, please try a free email service such as Hotmail or Yahoo. As I mentioned in a previous response in this thread, both of the networks we house our machines on has been stable & available all day. If you're still experiencing connectivity issues, please complete a traceroute to your domain name and submit the results to our support department. Your connectivity issues sound very much like they're regional or ISP related. Todd --

i suspect there is some truth about routing and isp issues. i can access many sites without problems but when i go to my site (hosted by site5) or even site5's site, service is intermittent or very slow. i think eventually it boils down to the fact that this 'highway' to my site is bumpy or backed up and that other 'highways' are clear. who do i look to for an answer?
