DedicatedNOW Experiencing high ping times!

Posted by s0nics, 09-24-2004, 07:16 PM
Hello, Is anyone else getting this problem too? Just a few minutes ago, my server's ping jumped to 500! I also pinged dedicatednow.com and got around the 511's and I'm from NJ. I'm very disappointed in this...

DDoS attack

Hmm...just wondering, can DDoS attacks really affect a whole network?

Yes, all data comes in the same place. If the DDOS is filling that place, it's going to affect the whole network. If it were a small attack, it would affect only that subnet, but this one is pretty large from what I've heard.

where/how did u get a reply from support?

Posted by s0nics, 09-24-2004, 08:12 PM
I e-mailed them at support@dedicatednow.com. Response time is very quick, they've got Great Support, just worried about their network at this moment, hope all goes well for them.

When are they taking in Above / GBLX and Level3 as mentioned?

Well, the pings seemed to have returned to normal. Good job DedicatedNOW, let's hope nothing like this happens again =P.

One of our customers was under a nasty multi-gigabit DDoS. We have nullrouted the traffic to the servers at our upstream providers and now have the situation under control. The Abovenet link to our network is nearing completion and should be ready sometime around mid to late October. Once we get closer to completion, we should have a fairly decent mix of providers (which will be announced when we come closer to the actual completion date)

Yes, Last week there was an attack on Liquidweb that put all their network down.

Moved to the Network Outages forum.
