Hello, Could you please send me your full IP info. I have 9 Class C' ranges in the 209.67.21*.xxx range and cant check all the IP's. I am not showing any signs of packet loss and I do see a couple tickets in for clients with issues around IPSEC and IPTables locking themselves out. Thanks Jeremy

We are not having any on our networks. Thanks Jeremy

Must be problem with your server, My server at L.T is rocking along

Posted by Cirrostratus, 11-19-2004, 11:06 PM
Hello, A quick way to tell if this is any issue with your server of the network is to PING your gateway IP address. If your IP is 209.67.208.178 then your gateway will be 209.67.208.177. If you get a reply from .177 then everything upto your switchport is working and its likely and issue with your Firewall. We have had 3 people submit network outage requests in the last 3 hours and 2 of them where related to IPTables and the 3rd to a mis-configured IPSEC setup. Thanks Jeremy

Hello, Your host is down due to a faulty kernel install and the sever is under going a fsck. Please check with your reseller before making posts like this as the network is not down. Thanks Jeremy

My server with ResellerWorkz, which is a reseller of LayeredTech, is down! I'm waiting for response from ResellerWorkz at the moment.

Mine is with TomSyer, and down. I wasn't doing any server Mx or anything, and it went down. Hell, I wasn't even logged in to the machine.

Your server appears to be up and accessable from 2 remote locations I have tried. ThePlanet and Charter Cable. Please verify this is not an issue with your local ISP. Thanks Jeremy

Hello, I have raised a ticket with Savvis NetEng to also look into this and see if there was any problems upstream from us causing issues. I have not been able to replicate any errors on my end (packet loss etc) and most of the people with problems so far where firewall / kernel related. I will let you know if I find anything out. Thanks Jeremy

what about 209.67.212.42?

Posted by Cirrostratus, 11-20-2004, 12:08 AM
Hello, I am able to hit your IP from one remote location but not another. I am having the NetEng team look into this right away. Thanks Jeremy

It appears to me is a partial network issue? Or routing issue? Or something like that... Because I am in Australia, and can not access my server, however, some of my clients can visit my site without any problem, some are not. And I did some traceroutes from different locations. It seems some hops are broken. I also did check http://alertra.com/spotcheck.php and get the following results (domain to be hidden for security reason): Spotcheck Results for (domain name hidden) Time (US/Eastern) Checked From Result KBytes Secs Kbps 11/19/2004 22:48:58 Frankfurt GERMANY OK 12.2 3.11 32.14 11/19/2004 22:49:15 Hong Kong CHINA Unable to resolve na N/A 20.06 N/A 11/19/2004 22:48:57 Las Vegas USA OK 12.2 2.50 39.97 11/19/2004 22:48:58 London UK OK 12.2 3.07 32.52 11/19/2004 22:49:15 Oklahoma City USA Unable to resolve na N/A 20.06 N/A 11/19/2004 22:49:27 Atlanta USA Unable to connect N/A 32.10 N/A 11/19/2004 22:49:15 Orlando USA Unable to resolve na N/A 20.05 N/A 11/19/2004 22:49:25 Chicago USA Unable to connect N/A 30.12 N/A I am very glad it's not my server's problem. LOL

Just and update. I am working with Savvis neteng about this issue now and we may have isolated the problem hop. We are going to try some work around here in a minute to send all 209.67.208.0/20 traffic over CSR1 instead of CSR1&CSR2 as CSR2 is showing some issues with that IP range. So anyone coming in over CSR1 is having no problems but people who come over CSR2 are having the issues. Thanks Jeremy

I have looked at our ticket system and I only see one ticket about this type of issue so it must be yours. One of our techs replied to it within 32 minutes of the ticket being opened. As per their replies, there is nothing wrong with your server as the problem appears to be network related.

Thanks Greg. They replied me very quickly.

The problem seems to be fixed. I can access my server now.

Me too, guess there was some type of network issues at the DC, as my server never went down.
