Surfspeedy down again

Posted by me_therrien, 12-31-2004, 10:36 PM
Just to contribute some up-to-date news and views on SurfSpeedy. I joined Dec 8, 2004 and have had server down time for 4 days up till Dec 31 - so approx 16% against a quoted up time of "99.99%" Support is average-to-mediocre. Telephone support is routed to call centre in India - who play grossly distorted indian pop-music while on hold and when you are connected, no-one has any information other than a script "We are experiencing some technical difficulties" - uh, duh, my server has been down for 2 days - I figured that one out. Live Chat support is not too bad. MySQL, email, Cpanel - all good. Having said all that - I can't take the down time - so I am off to ****** or StartLogic. Matthew

This is getting really crazy. There servers are down again and there support is no where to be found. I was thinking by posting here i can get some answeres. I was wondering how to a move a blog and a database from one server to another. The reason for my question is i need to move everything to my new hosting account. They just lost my business as soon as they get the servers back up im packing my site up and moving out to a new host.

Usually the backup utility in your control panel should be able to save all your files, images, databases, etc. for moving to a new host. You might want to make sure your new host uses the same control panel to make things simple. Best of luck

That really sucks, especially if you are paying money to bring traffic to your site.

A while ago, I was thinking of buying their hosting and a good friend of mine told me that they have a lot of bad reviews. I just joined WebHostingTalk and now I might get a better idea on which web host I shall choose!

Server downtime and no support seems to be a trend with SurfSpeedy lately.
