Are they not moving some of their servers this weekend?

Posted by Coolraul, 01-30-2005, 12:32 PM
I thought they had completed it last week but maybe not. Actually my server that was moved last week or the week before (the days run together) is down. So I don't think thats it.

Posted by NeoGen, 01-30-2005, 12:43 PM
Is it http://versweb.net/ or http://versaweb.net/ because versweb.net is loading fine, but versaweb.net seems to be down

Posted by mazmanr, 01-30-2005, 12:44 PM

Anyone able to access Versaweb.net? And are your guys & gals servers accessible?

Posted by Darkfire001, 01-30-2005, 01:14 PM
Down for a good 2-hours now, and this happened last week too albeit for only a quarter of an hour :|

Posted by Darkfire001, 01-30-2005, 01:22 PM
I doubt it's the server move, that caused me quite a headache earlier. I'm sure Rob is working to correct this, but anyone know what the actual problem is?

Posted by peeweeh, 01-30-2005, 01:41 PM
i just hope they wont let us down

Posted by Hassan, 01-30-2005, 02:50 PM
I have dedicated server & shared hosting with them, All of my sites are down....Move for dedicated server was done last week and move of Shared hosting was done yesturday, I think there is some other problem.

Posted by Darkfire001, 01-30-2005, 02:52 PM
:| Understandably their mail server is down too. Approaching 4-Hours down at least that I know of.

Posted by P.H.P, 01-30-2005, 02:58 PM
Darkfire , as i know , it is now 6 hours down !

Posted by mgleason007, 01-30-2005, 03:27 PM
Yes I'm starting to get rather annoyed with them. A couple weeks ago, with their recent datacenter move, my box wasn't listed to be moved and was. I was without the box for two days. Once it came back up, mail wouldn't work and it still doesn't. Now it's all down. I wish I knew what was going on over there. They don't keep their customers very informed.

Posted by Darkfire001, 01-30-2005, 03:56 PM
I'm guessing 7 Hours now, and still now word from Rob. Any have any info on the situation whatsoever?

Posted by Hassan, 01-30-2005, 03:57 PM
I request to Rob, If you are reading this thread, please inform us about this issue.

Posted by mrbroadband, 01-30-2005, 04:04 PM
This is really annoying. You're told they are making a move and then PHP doesn't work. I find it ironic that all this is happening (webservers down - php doesnt work - lack of updates) and yet their billing server is working and has sent out an invoice.

Posted by P.H.P, 01-30-2005, 04:20 PM
Please Mr Rob , we really know that this technical issues is sometimes our of control and no one can avoid failures in %100 , but at least we want to know what is the current situation so we can describe the problem to our customers . thanks

Posted by Darkfire001, 01-30-2005, 04:22 PM
Well, this issue is affecting shared & reseller customers. But in defense of Rob the invoices were sent out yesterday when no issue existed and the PHP issue is only related to Shared clients.

Posted by Boost, 01-30-2005, 04:24 PM
hi as per to my last call to Rob he said they are working on the case to get every thing back as soon as posible, seems they have a routing problem once all are back and things works good he will send clarification for all. my last call to him was 15 min ago

Posted by NZHosts, 01-30-2005, 05:01 PM
yes its vanished alright and no reply to emails. Was off the air almost 2 days with the move .. now this. I already lost 6 clients from the first change. Have moved a few over to another server I have of my own. but still have 40 clients lost somewhere. This is not a good look. The only reason I had this reseller site was because I had some clients who wanted CPanel. I run DirectAdmin on my own. Hope this resolves very soon.

Thanks boost for updating us, We all are waiting to see very thing back!

Posted by mrbroadband, 01-30-2005, 05:22 PM
I havent been able to reach them yet, but have they mentioned anything about refunds/credit for down time?

Posted by Matt, 01-30-2005, 05:36 PM
Merged multiple threads....

Posted by NZHosts, 01-30-2005, 05:44 PM
Well they havent mentioned ANYTHING let alone refunds. In fact I got my bill yesterday. Come on Rob let folk know whats going on.

Posted by wizio, 01-30-2005, 05:51 PM
well, just a day ago they completed moving all accounts from he.net and the planet to thier own datacenter in San Jose. They also began using InterNAP, which I believe is the reason for this. just like Boost mentioned it's obviously a routing problem and nothing to do with the servers. what a shame. it ain't a good start at all. lucky it's a sunday, but I hope the techs could resolve it soon

Posted by Joshua, 01-30-2005, 06:26 PM
Just out of curiosity, did Versaweb move all of their servers (including dedicated), or just their shared clients? Also, where are they located now?

Posted by Boost, 01-30-2005, 06:31 PM
as Rob stated to me in my last call for him he promised he will make every thing back as soon as posible and he will make sure that there will be a happy ending for all this. Rob never been a careless person toward his clients.

Posted by Boost, 01-30-2005, 06:33 PM
it is not been 12 hours yet

Posted by mrbroadband, 01-30-2005, 06:37 PM
For some of us with PHP pages it has been way more than 12 hours. I still don't know if they ever resolved their PHP upgrade(s). Last edited by mrbroadband; 01-30-2005 at 06:43 PM.

Things, are still down And as of this point at least 8+ Hours for those of us with dedicated.

Posted by Boost, 01-30-2005, 07:34 PM
no the PHP problem is totaly some thing else that was on the shared and reseller servers that has been moved yesterday. but the current problem is with all the servers in the new DC the servers which has not been yet moved they are on and working with no problem for all of them

Posted by Boost, 01-30-2005, 07:38 PM
Latest news as per to Rob which just called him now the did target the problem and they are solving it now all should be back real soon

Hello, Sorry i've been absent from these boards for a while now. The post above pretty much sums up the issue with the downtime last week. We now hove systems in place that will reduce the turnaround time to get issues like this handled - being a new tenant in our building caused the on-site NOC techs significant problems in finding our area in the building, and also creating us a ticket, since we weren't in all of the required systems yet. Had this happened during the week it would have been solved in minutes, however the timing was terrible being on a weekend. Outages always seem to come at the worst times. The good news is that we have now resolved all of the issues related to our server move for both reseller and dedicated customers, with the exception of a php upgrade on one server that we are currently working on (thelinuxguy aka Steve, if you read this, i'm waiting for an email from you). Just to answer a few other questions I saw in this thread: 1 - We moved to the CRGWest facility at 55 S Market St in San Jose - http://www.marketposttower.com and also moved our connectivity to InterNap. This facility is a much better fit for us, and will allow us to grow and do many things that our previous providers could not. 2 - We moved everything in phases to make the move a bit easier, however all service has now been moved to the new facility. 3 - The PHP issues we ran into were caused when we attempted to upgrade from php 4.3.8 using Cpanel's easyapache script. We had 4.3.8 running great, did a rebuild with the same build options, and everything just died. We worked to get a basic functioning PHP build back and running, and we are currently working on getting a build with all of the options we normally offer. This only affected our reseller servers. We will always do our best to be up front and honest about issues like this with our customers. I sincerely hope that this bump in the road will be more than offset by the significant upgrades to our services we have made in the past couple of months.
