WHTHost

Also posted in the reseller section: Hey Folks, As a number of you have found, the WHTHost servers were purchased from us. Despite a number of attempts to allow the current ownership clean up the server(s) they have been disregarded and we have been forced to terminate WHTHost and turn the servers off But, we also understand that many people will be hurt by this and we would like to minimize that as much as we can. We will be turning ea server back on after a full security audit is completed and we feel that they can be safely run. We will keep the servers up for 4 days...so that anyone who has content on the server has a chance to download their data and find a new home. A word to the wise...WHTHost was, due to its pricing and feature pack a house of (oversold) cards that in the end was precarious at best even under the best management. Unless you want to be in the repeating cycle of this being done to you, look for a host that charges a fair price for reasonable features...etc or you will be involved in one of these again Again, I am sorry it has come to this, we will try to get the servers back online tonight (BUT ONLY FOR 4 DAYS) and will update as we can.

Tried to email the poster - no go. I am stuck with WHT - I have not been able to get any sense out of anyone connected there - multiple "new" owners etc., possibly sharks smelling the blood in the water..... BUT I have a constant monitor running on the names of mine and as of right now still no access - EXCEPT while loading a browser - with not this home page - I got an Account suspended message from this yet-another-new-name-in-the-game: Beachcomber.net. I've virtually given up on any sense coming out of it or even recovery. But I am intrigued as to how Beachcomber got (1) access to my accounts (2) were able to send me a takeover Home-page! BTW: Their rates were not bottom end - just not top shark end: $15 p.m. casual for a very basic package.

We posted this on another thread but will post here to: All of the servers are to much of a security risk to leave up at all per se... We are taking one at a time and bringing it back up, suspending all of the accounts and putting a placeholder in place so you can contact us. Once we have been contaced by the reseller we will unsuspend for a short time to allow the accounts to be offloaded On Thursday Am, 4-21-05 at 9AM EST, we will send all the servers in for reformat. Sorry folks, it is the best I can do.

Mark, Im one of the clients getting screwed over by WHThost. Thankfully, I found your thread in this forum. I really need to backup and recover my sites before you guys reformat the servers on Thursday 4-21-05. How do I contact you to give you my account information? I tried going to beachcomber.net but the site wasnt available. Please contact me as soon as possible (toro04@gmail.com) Thank you Adam

Like me, Im sure there are many WHThost clients that were left out in the dark by the recent shutdown of the their servers. I would have no complaints if I would have recieved fair warning and enough time to backup my sites and move to a different host. However, I wasnt extended this courtesy by WHThost or its owner. If anyone would like to contact the WHThost owner, here is his contact info. I know I will be contacting him to find out why he left his clients in the dark. Adam: What happened is that, Lyall don't know how to handle servers, and once he fired/lost all his support staff, server's become a target of spammers, had security glitches, and seriously overselling. If you need help, let me know.
