All the network seems to be down... Hope they know what's going on and fix it soon...

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 07:16 PM
Down for 10 minutes now... By the way, my monitoring just woke me up after 4 hours of sleep. That feels so good

My server with Burst is down, but I can't get to their website either. Can anyone else? http://www.burst.net

Posted by ozdesign, 04-20-2005, 07:18 PM
It is 9am here - so my customers are awake too

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 07:19 PM
>support.burst.net too...what do you think about support on the >same network? Well, if people see your own site down, too they know that it is not a problem with their server/site and that prevents them from submitting support tickets (which is unneccessary because Burst has monitoring systems in place)

Good morning Thomas

At least Burst is answering the phone... they're trying to track down the issue, no ETA or possible cause yet. - Matt

Down here too, already getting calls from our customers. Cannot get to burst themself We have a few servers with them and they are all down.

Posted by bloodyman, 04-20-2005, 07:27 PM
MainArea: If you are in good cooperation with burst, keep us informed what's going on.

Back (at least for now) for me.

What is the link to the uptime guarantee form again? I believe we should be reimbursed for the down time.

Getting back

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 07:36 PM
They guarantee 99.5% on years average and they are far above that...

Posted by mainarea, 04-20-2005, 07:36 PM
The uptime guarantee is 99.5%, which allows for a maximum of around 3.6 hours of downtime per month. This was about... 25 minutes or so? We're back up. I use the same phone number and extension that everyone else does to get info... nothing special. - Matt

Posted by BizGlobalizer, 04-20-2005, 07:37 PM
Back up for us. Luckily we have only one server there hosting under 200 customers so no major problem especialy when clock is 2am in Finland.

Posted by Dacsoft, 04-20-2005, 07:47 PM
Back for me. I only had a couple customer email me about the outage. Luckily we have had good uptime for quite a while now, so they were understanding. Amazingly, my customers are faster than any of the monitoring sites about notifying me of problems.

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 07:50 PM
>Amazingly, my customers are faster than any of the monitoring >sites about notifying me of problems. That is because anyone is always working on his site and will see the downtime immediately.

It is down again and I am awake again

Posted by FredTT, 04-20-2005, 08:42 PM

Back on... But now I can`t sleep

Posted by Dacsoft, 04-20-2005, 08:49 PM
Been there - done that. Stress is better than a couple pots of coffee to wake you up. Still tired -just can't sleep. I had that problem recently when we experienced a hard drive failure at 11pm.

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 10:09 PM
>I had that problem recently when we experienced a hard drive >failure at 11pm. Yes, that's right. When you have a real problem you can`t sleep. Last time I had a MySQL problem that I couldn't fix. I was awake for like 30 hours that day.

Down again

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 10:30 PM
Since Burst did maintenance to their network the performance has decreased quite much. I hope this is just temporary and whatever maintenance they did will be undone.

This was posted on their Network Status Forum: On 4/20/2005 at approximately 7 PM EDT we experienced a loss of one of our core switches. We restored service wt approximately 7:20 PM EDT, and will be swapping the problematic switch out tonight at approximately 9:45 PM EDT. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Posted by thomas.smith, 04-20-2005, 10:53 PM
Ah, ok... Hope that solves it permanently.

Posted by jayjay, 04-20-2005, 10:54 PM
The core switch that was causing issues has been replaced with a brand new unit. We apologize for the inconvenience.
