PowerProWeb.com out of business?

Posted by jkirkpatrick, 04-21-2005, 08:47 PM
I recently signed up with PowerProWeb.com and after 5 days of trying to contact them I still haven't heard anything. Now my site has gone down with no warning. Anyone else using them? Any idea what's wrong? Thanks, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, I just responded to your PM that you sent. Your ticket was assigned to David, and he was out sick this week, so no one else was able to access the ticket. Nothing is wrong, and I apoligize about the incovenience.

How come both your site and my site are down then? They both just say "This Domain is Currently Unavailable. Please Try Again Later." I also can't get my email. Jennifer

Bill, I'm getting the same message (when trying to reach your site). I think you should check your server.

Yes, there was a problem with that server today, the necessary steps have been taken to fix it, and it should be back up within the next 30 minutes. Once again, I apoligize about the incovenience.

My site is still down... I have to say, this isn't a great introduction to your service. Jennifer

Bill Nathan (PowerProWeb.com) is a very active member of this forum and probably he is sorting things out right now. Did you try to email their support?

I cannot access the host site yet. It also failed according to SiteUptime. Perhaps they just had a bad event, I am sure it will be resolved shortly. It's unfortunate you signed up during the occurance.

We are moving the main site over to a new server, but the DNS propagation is taking longer than anticipated. It usually takes around 10 minutes, but its now been over an hour. All files have been moved, all settings configured properly, so I am thinking it should be back up very soon. I am sorry about the incovenience.

One of the reasons I signed up with them is because Bill Nathan has such a good reputation here. Unfortunately reputation wasn't enough. The site being down is just a crappy end to a series of debacles over the last 3 weeks. They keep making promises and not keeping them. They don't answer my support tickets. Then today Bill tells me they haven't been responding because David has been off sick and my support tickets were going to him. But... I've been dealing with Robert, NOT David. The whole things seems fishy to me.... Jennifer

Does DNS propogation really only take 10 minutes now? When I change my DNS entries with Dotster they say it can take as long as 72 hours... Jennifer

With some heavy pressure, Verisign changed propagation to being near instant a little while back, but its not turning out that way now. In the past, it has usually just been several minutes for me, but this time it is taking longer than it has been in the past. You have been dealing with David for around the last 2 weeks now.

Jennifer, I just checked, Verisign made the "rapid DNS update" on September 9 of last year.

It is now working. Just restarted my computer, and cleared the cache in my browser, and now all is good.
