As some of you may know, IOFLOOD.com started out offering primarily VPS services with unique features such as SSD storage space, dedicated hard drives, and other performance enhancing perks, all on a Xen platform. The level of service we provided and the unique features not found anywhere else allowed us to build a quality reputation while offering these services, and it has been great working with all of our customers and employees.
Unfortunately, these extra features are incompatible with any of the various VPS control panels out there, and therefore all provisioning, reboots, bandwidth monitoring, etc, was performed manually by our staff. As such, the amount of time our support staff spends on servicing these clients, vs the revenues generated, was not sustainable, and we were left with a tough decision. We either could program our own control panel to automate common support and provisioning issues, or we could stop providing VPS service to new clients. Because of the costs, both in time, expertise, and money, of building our own hosting control panel would be very large, the potential revenues from expanding our VPS business would be unlikely to cover those additional costs. Therefore, a decision was made recently to no longer offer VPS services for new customers. Existing clients are unaffected by this change and their service will continue without interruption, but for the time being, we are not setting up new VPS's for anyone. If circumstances in the market or with our company change to allow us to offer VPS service in the future, we will certainly evaluate that opportunity when the time comes.
Meanwhile, a few months ago, we offered a few dedicated servers, at first simply to clear some excess inventory. However, in doing so, we found that there is a strong demand for high performance, reasonably priced dedicated servers backed by support from people who love servers. In particular, we found that our best customers were people looking to start or expand a VPS hosting business. We found that other providers tend to charge excessive fees for the upgrades a VPS provider needs, and put undue restrictions on ip addresses that are required for operating that kind of business. As such, we found VPS node hosting to provide the opportunity to offer our customers unmatched service and value, even while we ourselves make a good return on our investment.
Because of all of the above factors, IOFLOOD.com has redesigned it's website and packages to reflect a focus on high performance, affordable dedicated servers, with a particular emphasis on VPS node hosting. By focusing our attention in this area, we can use our experience and expertise to help you start or grow a profitable VPS hosting provider. By offering hardware, software, and expertise specifically tuned to the needs of these demanding clients, we allow you to offer your customers the best performance possible, at a price that helps you make a solid profit.
