Yep, a lot of DCs have very poor or bad power backup even tho they have glowing info about it on their site. Not saying they are lying in this case but... what happened to your backup. We've had server in 2 large data centers go down with a power failure. Both DCs had promoted "UPS and Diesel generator backup" turns out there was no generator... but there is now...Ha!

I have a server there, and called my sales rep today. There definitely was a power issue that affected servers in the datacentre. From what he explained, the building and UPS had power so the generators did not kicked in. It had to do the PDU (Sales Reps words) that powers the racks blew a main breaker. It sits between the UPS and the racks. As for generators and UPS and such, I have toured the NetNation facility and it definitely has them. Will let you know more once I hear.

Man I was thinking of switching to NetNation dedicated from Peer1, since I need management services and Peer1 transfer is really expensive. But on the other hand, downtime just doesn't exist with Peer1. Not during the grid failure that lasted a week last year, not ever. It just doesn't exist. But data transfer is just crazy, and no one is there to provide service management. This means on top of data costs, we need to hire staff ($$$$!) for monitoring. What do you suggest? I live in toronto.
