Globalcompass down ?

Servers at GC, under dragon.com are down. Anyone else ? I can't even view globalcompass.com or dragon.com ..
|

I think it's a routing issue out there. I have a server at cyberwurx which I believe is in the same vicinity as GC, and I'm getting all kinds of strange routes there.

Just got the e-mail about it from cw... This is the first outage I ever remember from them- still a great place to have a server though :-)
|
Posted by serve-you, 06-09-2005, 10:22 AM |
Wasn't really an outage for the provider. It was an upstream bandwidth issue. And I totally agree, cyberwurx is great! I wish they offered a better variety of servers though.

Dear Cyber Wurx Customer,
Please be advised that at approximately 6:00 a.m. EST we experienced network
difficulty due to a private network peer sending erroneous BGP information. This
caused core router miscommunication causing intermittent outages. As of 8:00 a.m.
EST all issues have been resolved and the network is fully functional. We apologize
for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you.
Best Regards,
Cyber Wurx Web Services

I sort of have the impression that maybe they're full? The only unmanaged servers I ever see appear to be recycles...

Cyber Wurx has been great for us so far as a co-lo provider. Their support is generally very fast and their pricing is very reasonable.
Fortunately, this outage did not affect us since we are multi-homed with Cyber Wurx and WV Fiber.
I believe they are working to close on additional space in the building to support future growth, and that's probably why you haven't been seeing too many offers from them lately.

Just wanted to 2nd that. They are a great provider, most importantly, you can work with them even if you requirements are somewhat different as in our case.
We are on the multi-homed as well, but it did affect us for a few minutes.
|
Posted by qps, 06-12-2005, 01:16 PM |
Just to clarify -- we're using Cyber Wurx's multi-homed bandwidth in addition to our own connection to WV Fiber, and that's why this outage did not cause us to go down.

Ah, makes sense....
|
Posted by wheimeng, 06-12-2005, 08:32 PM |
Hm, CW has WV Fiber if I've not mistaken.
|
Posted by qps, 06-12-2005, 08:39 PM |
Yeah, they do, but Cyber Wurx's routers were having problems as mentioned above, so you wouldn't have been able to get to any of their providers during the outage.
We have a direct connection to WV Fiber and run our own BGP session, so our network was still available via our direct WV Fiber connection.
