GNAX down?

Posted by JohnGladen, 10-04-2005, 11:45 PM
Is GNAX.net not working for anyone else? My server is either down or their network is down....

Posted by BuffaloWeb, 10-04-2005, 11:48 PM
funny, just coming here to check myself. All our servers there are down, tranxactglobal site is down as well, so it is likely something at the dc, not your servers...

Good...it's not my server, bad...i don't need this downtime

The gnax.net site is up for me. I don't have any servers there so I can't speak for anything besides their main site. Next time you should report this in the providors and network outages forum found here

hmmm must be certain areas

Moved to outages

Posted by IGobyTerry, 10-05-2005, 01:40 PM
It was actually a little over 30 minutes. It was some kind of Level 3 outage though in the Atlanta area. It appears to be ongoing today, as I've had 2-3 customers (all from Florida too) have issues when routing over Level 3.

Level3 did depeer with Cogent today. Not sure that mixes in with your route you have to your servers. From Cogent:

wow, can't we all just get along?

Posted by sailor, 10-05-2005, 04:42 PM
gnax was not down per se - cogent was blackholing routes to level3 customers and still is after getting depeered. we have turned them off - and everything is fine. nice guys eh?

Has the silver tier been discontinued until this is sorted out? Last edited by Dave W; 10-05-2005 at 05:14 PM.

Is any from Global Net Access having problems ? Connection very slow and there few outages Thanks

Posted by 01globalnet, 10-05-2005, 07:34 PM
Yes, I noticed this 1 hour ago for some minutes from my end here in Greece and also a customer in Germany noticed that (timeouts + slow loads). I contacted with my provider at Gnax (Solidhost) and they told they were not aware of any network issues, they monitor the servers from all over the world and had no any alert. I tried to access my sites + Solidhost main site and the same problems. All fine now, it was very short, probably had to do with European routing to Atlanta (as SH also told me).

So, it was the point that Level3 dropped Cogent... Gnax will cut Cogent from the main network now.

Posted by supremenetworks, 10-05-2005, 07:55 PM
hmmm I wonder what's going to happend now. What do you think about this cut ? Thanks

Posted by smueller, 10-05-2005, 08:07 PM
So Gnax had both level3 and cogent in its bgp mix. But since level3 decided to blackhole cogent, gnax is going to cut them? why?

Posted by hostbox, 10-05-2005, 08:55 PM
Since Cogent was mixed into the network we have seen some outages that didn't happen a year ago before cogent was on

Posted by sailor, 10-05-2005, 09:16 PM
no - we just are not routing the main net through there for now.

Nice to know... out of everyone at GNAX how come only I was the lucky one to get a outage thread here also... must be my great luck

Posted by sailor, 10-06-2005, 02:27 PM
ok - well I think we have most of it fixed - iof there are any stragglers then let us know. on a bright note we have made some significant changes we are now sending level 3 routes to the cogent only net - so our cogent only customers are able to get to level3 no problem. we are also letting all the inbound traffic to the cogent only net come in on any net that is wants which will improve the performance of this network offering over the competitors. cheers and thanks for your patience while we worked on things.

i haven't been able to access my server on tektonic since saturday. after reading here that they are on gnax i tried that too, and i can't access that either. probably some router on the way there that's failing (if it was down completely there would probably be other people complaining too..). i'm in sweden (on telia's network).

You know... some people have been writing in saying their sites were down, not many... but a few and I just realized GNAX was having some troubles due to their upstream providers. I suppose those customers have not been completely nuts, although our leg/server have not had many issues. I do not know why their RouteScience is not fixing this. Check out this page, it shows the health for north america as a whole is not very good right now. http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm.
