Posted by spiffyspiff, 11-19-2005, 05:25 PM
It's been down about 30-40 minutes. Have submitted a support ticket so we'll see...

Posted by warsh, 11-19-2005, 05:35 PM
My server is down also...

Posted by Compworld, 11-19-2005, 05:47 PM
Yeap, I'm down as well. This happen with them a few weeks ago also. No response from support as of yet either.

Posted by gimme5, 11-19-2005, 05:51 PM
Yeah, the ticket I submitted over 40 minutes ago has not yet been touched either. Hopefully they're working on it.

I have received replies from them on weekends before, so it should be all right.

Posted by warsh, 11-19-2005, 06:17 PM
Bad week.. First Sagonet, now Managed

Posted by gimme5, 11-19-2005, 06:25 PM
Yep, and another server of mine was affected by the Sagonet "upgrade" :-/

Posted by Veridian - Shneur, 11-19-2005, 06:27 PM
my server 66.79.189.xx is also down, sounds like a network issue (which is why they would not answer tickets I guess). Otherwise on saturdays they do respond to reboot requests... I wonder if it's their entire network down or only part. Is anyone at managed.com up at this time?

Posted by Born2Kill, 11-19-2005, 06:59 PM
There is problem between Level3 and Managed ...

Posted by Born2Kill, 11-19-2005, 07:01 PM
2 hour of downtime .....

Posted by digdugdog, 11-19-2005, 07:05 PM
Yes, it's definitely internet connectivity problems with some managed servers. While I can't get to 4 of my 5 managed.com servers, I can get to one of them. From there, I can connect to the others, so it's not like a local problem. I've been trying to move off managed for ages... especially after the price increase, which I thought was suppose to fix problems like this!

Posted by Born2Kill, 11-19-2005, 07:25 PM
support is dead too ... nobody answer on phone, fax and email ..... Managed sux !

Posted by Veridian - Shneur, 11-19-2005, 07:44 PM
I just got this: Dear Customer: We are having some problems with our network. Our techs are currently working on this case to get your server back online. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have cause you and our support team would like to thank you for being patience with us as we resolve this case. Regards, Loan @managed.com

Posted by digdugdog, 11-19-2005, 08:24 PM
going on 3.5 hours of downtime now.. Didn't the other level 3 peering problems take days to resolve?

Posted by Born2Kill, 11-19-2005, 08:25 PM
They sux !

Posted by HostingPoint, 11-19-2005, 09:42 PM

Posted by gurika, 11-19-2005, 10:22 PM
This is not normal, stupid managed and level3 and all this stuff...now I losing big money and reputation... STILL NETWORK DOWN!!

Posted by gimme5, 11-19-2005, 10:26 PM
Biggest outage i've had with managed. I'd like to at least have some information :-/

Posted by bzup, 11-19-2005, 10:27 PM
how long has it been down for? And does anyone know how long it is usually going to take? I email help but they send me the same email..

Posted by gimme5, 11-19-2005, 10:30 PM
it's been down for about 5 hours and a half! At this point, there's no way for us to know how long it will take. Managed probably doesn't even know how long it will take

Posted by Hostex Australia, 11-19-2005, 11:44 PM
I don't know why people are saying "i'm losing heaps of money because of managed.com downtime". If you're making heaps of money, why are you even using Managed? Managed is for those who are on a small budget, and as such, you will not get a mission critical level of service.

Posted by bzup, 11-20-2005, 12:25 AM
is it backup yet guys?

Posted by digdugdog, 11-20-2005, 12:32 AM
down for 7.5 hours now. I'm not loosing sleep staying up till it comes back.

Posted by avythe, 11-20-2005, 12:58 AM
I have a manged server that is up...are you sure it's not just your netblock having an issue?

Posted by bzup, 11-20-2005, 02:22 AM
well my ip is 205.209.X.X and ive emailed them number of times and i keep getting the same stupid email Dear Customer: We are having some problems with our network. Our techs are currently working on this case to get your server back online. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have cause you and our support team would like to thank you for your patience as we resolve this case. Regards, Miguel Managed.com Support Staff So is it just me and my box that is suffering or are some others not able to connect to there boxes? Thanks in advanced..

Posted by gimme5, 11-20-2005, 02:35 AM
No, it's not just you. My IP is 65.75.154.xx and I can't get to my box at all. I also always get the same email

Posted by Spitfired2s, 11-20-2005, 02:53 AM
Is there anyone else here with managed.com servers? Just wondering if yours are down too... I've finally gotten sick of thier **** service after 3 years of being with them! I've finally got a server elsewhere to transfer too the second my server with them decides to become available again.... My experience with them was all good untill I got my 2nd server with them...

Posted by Valman, 11-20-2005, 03:00 AM
How long have they been down? All day? I've been trying to reach a popular forum that is unluckly hosted there and I haven't been able to all day.

Posted by Spitfired2s, 11-20-2005, 03:02 AM
All day... well over 10hours now i think.

Posted by tsutton, 11-20-2005, 05:03 AM
12 hours and counting for me. Very annoying. Considering moving away from managed.com but to who?

working for me now if i go through an italian proxy :/

Posted by ThunderhostCEO, 11-20-2005, 05:09 AM
I never liked Managed.com at all. I rented my first server from them. After a few month I noticed their support was horrible and as time went on I noticed the network speed decreasing more and more. I would suggest to get your servers from ThePlanet.com, but at this time they are not taking order from new customers. Maybe this will help you in the future though.

Posted by BChosting, 11-20-2005, 05:24 AM
The problem is with Managed.com, not Level3, MCI or Assertive Networks.

Posted by Iggy, 11-20-2005, 06:09 AM
Hmmm, going on 12+ hours at this point. Watchmouse reports some interesting results: Location Sydney, Australia: Timeout while connecting Location Kraków, Poland: OK Location Madrid, Spain: OK Location Paris, France: OK Location Nürnberg, Germany: OK Location Santa Clara, U.S.A.: Timeout while connecting Location Florida, U.S.A.: Timeout while connecting Location Stockholm, Sweden: OK Location Cagliari, Italy: OK Location New York, U.S.A.: OK Location Frankfurt, Germany: OK Location Amsterdam, Netherlands: OK Location London, United Kingdom: OK Location Singapore, Singapore: OK Location Austin, U.S.A.: Timeout while connecting Location Hong Kong, China: OK

Any clue as to what the problem relates to?

Posted by gurika, 11-20-2005, 08:09 AM
For me now working but slow and I think that some of my visitors from other locations can`t visit sites on my server... I must move my servers and now I thinking about liquidweb, also theplanet but now I can`t buy servers from them...I must do something this is crazy

Posted by Born2Kill, 11-20-2005, 08:10 AM
Problem was between Level3 and Managed ... I did not know on whose side ..... I can bet on managed's They prerouted my server which was down to above ... Just to tell that i have 10 hours of downtime ..... Text from managed.com : Our Microsoft® and Cisco® certified engineers specialize in designing network topologies that eliminate single points of failure and create network resiliency. By using proven products from our strategic partners, the network architecture team creates optimized, redundant capability, and unmatched reliability.

Posted by marcus23, 11-20-2005, 08:26 AM
Yep the problem is between Level3 and managed. I've noticed that same situation is between ALTER.NET and managed. Our site is loosing 9/10 of the traffic because of this incident. Managed is the worst dedicated server provider at this point. More than 15 hours of outage and still no sign that anything will be fixed. I've just received this email: " Dear Customer, Your server shoule be back online. I was informed that our network issues has been resolved. Please let us know if you are still having issues with your server. Thank you so much for your patience during the time we was resolving our network problems. Best Regards, Miguel " Their support is out of sync. I beleive we will wait another 4-5 days until new routing tables spread across the Internet. Managed sux and we sux together with managed. Of course they won't cover the damage they've caused. Maybe we will get additional 100GB of bandwidth next month. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Posted by athlonkmf, 11-20-2005, 11:19 AM
New response Members of my site in the eastern part of the world can't reach my site anymore, so I had to set up some backupservers quickly.... I'm missing 50% of visits at this moment... : Hi : We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. We still have network problems and working aggressively on the issue. We will get back to you as soon as possible. Regards, Avijit Support Desk of Managed.Com

Posted by Blapto, 11-20-2005, 12:41 PM
Do they have some sort of SLA, I can't see it on their site. I imagine a few of you are due a refund/credit.

Posted by Lebanon, 11-20-2005, 12:49 PM
its around 18 hours already and they are still down ! very annoying although they had too much complaints here earlier but i have 2 server with them and this is a first issue to me with them, however all am interested in right now is seeing everything back to normal !

Posted by elitehst, 11-20-2005, 12:54 PM
In reference to the SLA question by Blapto: IV. Uptime Guarantee Managed.com guarantees that our network will be available 99.9% (no more than 45 minutes) of the time in a given month excluding scheduled maintenance. In the event that our network is inaccessible for more than one hour during any thirty (30) days period, each customer will automatically be granted an additional 100GB of data transfer free of charge for the following month as compensation for the aforementioned downtime. Network uptime includes functioning of all network infrastructure including routers, switches and cabling. Network downtime exists when a particular customer is unable to transmit and receive data and Managed.com records such failure in the Managed.com trouble ticket system. Network downtime is measured from the time the trouble ticket is opened by a customer to the time the server is once again able to transmit and receive data.

Posted by gimme5, 11-20-2005, 01:01 PM
To confirm an earlier report, it looks like the web sites appear to be down for about 50% of the visitors. I have no problems viewing the sites through http://www.proxify.com . Also, my server at Fortress ITX can see the managed.com server and I'm able to transfer sites from one to the other and to use lynx to browse the sites on the managed.com server.

Posted by elitehst, 11-20-2005, 01:15 PM
I couldn't connect to my server using proxify, but I could from one of the 3 other servers I have at managed as well as through a different proxy.

Posted by HostingPoint, 11-20-2005, 02:37 PM
Switched to managed a few days ago, had some server problems from the start, and now it is down. I think I have had more downtime then uptime

Posted by gimme5, 11-20-2005, 04:31 PM
It's back up for me. Finally.

Posted by elitehst, 11-20-2005, 04:34 PM

Posted by athlonkmf, 11-20-2005, 04:56 PM

Posted by digdugdog, 11-20-2005, 06:01 PM
Here is the router graph for your block http://mrtg.managed.com/17a/ it looks like some of the sites are back fully, but it's sorta hard to tell sometimes.

Posted by Veridian - Shneur, 11-20-2005, 06:16 PM
finnaly I JUST got back up about 1 minute ago, whew....

Posted by mmaaaaattt, 11-20-2005, 06:31 PM
Ahh, and the sweet, sweet faith in empty buzz words founded in thoughtless mimicry strikes back!

Posted by tsutton, 11-20-2005, 06:37 PM
Back up for me too... but at 1 day and a half of downtime, it's unacceptable! I've ordered a new server with Layered Tech - hopefully they'll offer me a better service than managed.com before I cancel the server. Good luck everyone.

Posted by HostingPoint, 11-20-2005, 11:10 PM
Yes, its rediculous, I am going to be ordering another server also. Can I get a refund for this one? Anyone able to get a reimbursement from them?

Posted by ThunderhostCEO, 11-21-2005, 12:07 AM
I highly doubt that you will get a refund from them. I have heard many horror stories leading to the outcome of no refunds issued.

Posted by CammyUK, 11-21-2005, 12:17 AM
I used to be a customer of Managed.com, i could never get hold of there support team and there billing team are slow when it comes to replying to emails. I left after about 2 weeks, and i was never offered a refund. My advise is to stay clear of them.

Posted by tsutton, 11-21-2005, 04:01 AM
I asked managed.com twice for a refund. Both of them was returned with "We were having some difficulties with our network that caused numerous of server to be thrown offline. Our techs have resolved this issue and bought those server back on-line. If you are still experiencing problems accessing your server, please report back to us. Thank you." They are ignoring what I am saying and just used a copy & paste reply. Not good.

Posted by DedicatedBox, 11-21-2005, 08:10 AM
http://mrtg.managed.com/overview_old.html That is the managed.com MRTG overview, you can clearly see how many racks have had a downtime :-| It sure are alot :-\

Posted by genxweb, 11-21-2005, 09:45 AM
They where down over 24 hours. I suffered in this outage too all my servers with them where un reachable. They came back up sunday at 3:59 pm est and went down sat at 4:00 pm est time for me. They sent me the same caned response with no reason of the outage also their live support room had no live support nor would they answer the phone, fax or email. One thing is sure this is my last time using them.

Posted by gimme5, 11-21-2005, 12:04 PM
I kept asking about the reason for the outage, and this is what I got:

Posted by marcus23, 11-21-2005, 08:37 PM
How much money you've lost, if it's not secret. I've lost $100. But more serious is reputation damage which could be disaster on the long term. I've ordered new server. I'm sick of managed and their rotten service. Do you remember this email? " Dear Valued Customer, Starting August 2005, Managed.com implemented a necessary price increase to our services. At that time, the price of your server was not effected. In recognition of your prior customer status, a discount to this increase is being granted to you. Effective your next billing cycle, the Celeron server(s) monthly rate will increase to $79.95 (which is a discount from our current pricing). The break down for this monthly cost is: Celeron 2.4 system. This increase has allowed us to improve our customer support and network reliability as well as arrange for future enhancements. We are sure you will appreciate these improvements. If you have any questions, please contact DiscountRates@managed.com. We value you as a customer and look forward to continuing our relationship with you. Best Regards, Billing Dept Managed.com "

I just got off the phone with a guy named John who has agreed to give me two months free! He also told me to call any time. Here are the numbers he gave me. 650 299 1099 650 704 7015 He sounded like a nice guy. I encourage everyone to call him.

Posted by marcus23, 11-22-2005, 08:20 PM
haha, this nOOOOOOOOObie looks like someone from managed, trying to convince people not to leave. Dirty tricks.

Posted by n00000bie, 11-22-2005, 08:30 PM
Actually, I hate managed and fully intend to migrate to someone else over the next two months. I just figured I'd share my success story with everyone, since everyone seems to think that refunds/credits aren't available. That kind of downtime is absolutely unacceptable and they should pay people for their inconvenience. As mentioned, I really think that everyone should call John and get their credit.

Posted by digdugdog, 11-22-2005, 10:36 PM
Is mananaged totally down again? I can't get through to any of my servers.

Posted by Compworld, 11-22-2005, 10:40 PM
Yes, all servers down. I think I will look for another provider as well. One with.. Hmm... TECH SUPPORT.

Posted by digdugdog, 11-22-2005, 10:43 PM
it's not about tech support.. it's about having a reliable network.

Posted by elitehst, 11-22-2005, 10:43 PM
I have one down, and 3 up.

Posted by elitehst, 11-22-2005, 11:08 PM
My server is back online
