Voxrox/Voxel Scheduled Downtime

Posted by LogicX, 12-03-2005, 02:01 AM
Just a heads up (kinda late) that Voxrox/Voxel are having scheduled downtime this evening from 1AM to 4AM as they move servers from the LGA1 facility to the new LGA2 facility. Just thought I'd start a thread, as I've already shut down my servers, and will be patiently waiting to watch them come back up in the new facility. From the email they sent out to all customers: I've noticed that you can log into ubersmith, and under devices, it'll list if your device is in LGA or another facility.

Where are they moving to?

This is where they are moving to. According to Google Maps it's a 6 minute drive. Seems the outage started late, and they have 10 minutes to get my server back on line... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from%3...0013&f=d&hl=en

it's also expected that they probably will end up being a little late... voxrox has a lot of client machines to move over...

This outage has now lasted 6 hours (not the annouced three hours), I was told at 5:25 the information that was only posted at status.swishzone.com 2.5 hours later, that the server had all been moved, and everything would be plugged in. I'm sure it's been a long night for Voxel - I have done a few of those myself in my time. These days I usually find I don't get into that sort of situation, because I'm good at project management as well as being technically proficient. Hopefully it willl all be back up soon.

Total offline time from scheduled beginning of [3 hour] outage to server being back on line was 16 hours.

This downtime has been ridiculous. I have two servers. One apparently is online, but tracing it reveals it is still located at LGA1, the voxel tech told me they were false or inaccurate. the second one is nowhere to be found. Multiple calls after 3pm go unanswered. It has been at least 18 hours of total downtime. I'm very sad.

Is anyone else still down?

Dowxp, did you support a ticket through ubersmith as indicated by phone message?

Posted by dowxp, 12-03-2005, 11:29 PM
i'm not sure what your phone message means, i just get an answering machine. as for support tickets, there are two open from earlier this morning. I think they lost my machine

I apologize for the delay, your machine should be coming back online shortly. More information will be forthcoming. Best, Sam

If your server still is not responding, please submit a support request to support@voxel.net Best, Sam
