I have 4 servers with them of which only 3 I can keep online. They have been reliable boxes for years, but all of a sudden over the last week they are all suffering from massive load issues. I have no clue whats going on. Anyone else having any hassles ?

Posted by avythe, 03-14-2006, 11:48 AM
They've already proved that they won't. .

Posted by MrLeN, 03-14-2006, 11:52 AM
To be fair, I should mention that managed.com have provided me with a refund. They didn't ask any questions or make it difficult for me. MrLeN

Very nice. H-Sphere is really an incredible CP, and I don't think it get as much attention as it deserves. I hope it works out well for your needs. Well, it certainly looks like you moved in the right direction. Sounds like some good service at your new host. I try my best to treat my customers like gold, as I want to be treated like gold when I'm a customer. Everybody deserves to be treated like gold (except few people ), and I'm always happy to see that kind of service. Even if it is from my competition Haha! Good luck, though you may not actually need any now

I am not able to access my servers at managed.com? their home page is down too? anybody know what happened to them?

Posted by kaioken, 03-15-2006, 09:07 AM
same here, wtf is going on? i know this, no more managed.com im out after this problem is resolved

Posted by KaTXi, 03-15-2006, 09:30 AM
I can't reach managed.com today, and the computer we have hosted there is doing weird things (web and ssh works but can send emails, can't connect FROM the computer to anywhere outside inclusing nameservers on resolv.conf...). It's like if a new firewall is installed and it lets people inside (and send the answer, for example our homepage or SSH) but you can't go outside from the computer (for example, a FTP to a host using it's IP). Anyone with the same problems?

Posted by KaTXi, 03-15-2006, 09:38 AM
My server is up and I can connect by SSH and web works, but can't send / get email and I can't connect to the outside from the server (can't resolve domains, can't connetc to a FTP even if I know the IP...).

Hello, Its been 24 hours already since we last accessed our server. Managed.com is down. Can anyone give me any info on why they are down? We have been with managed.com for 3 years already. Before i was so happy with their service. Their service started to deteriorate when they started to changed ip address and give only one ip for every server purchased. Can someone recommend me of a reliable dedicated server provider. Any help is highly appreciated. tiktik

any1 here have any ideas on options to get back online ? ive actually lost faith in managed.com resolving this problem, im thinking of setting up accounts manually on a new server i have to get from another host. ive even emailed above.net with no reply except for the support ticket ID reply. im in South Africa, so i cant even get through to these guys via phone cos it just cuts off, has any1 else tried contacting managed via phone?

I called the phone number on my CC bill. Managed.com is owned by Web Host Plus dot com. They told me a fiber line in their building was cut and have been working non-stop moving servers to a new building. They haven't had time to let anyone know or answer voice mail calls that was listed on their site. The tech I talked to said they will be back when they finish with the move. I already bought a new server with Webhostplus dot com at a cheaper price. I'm going to drop my managed.com server anyway due to insufficient information about this outage and leaving many customers in the dark. I've already lost customers on my end and can't really wait for managed.com to move. Joe

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-15-2006, 03:48 PM
i see you can now access managed.com however i am offline still Sniper thanks for the info, i too have lost clients and am really upset, this company that owns managed.com, is it webhostplus.com at that url? i see they offer unmetered bandwigth, is this Tier1?

Posted by SniperJoe, 03-15-2006, 03:54 PM
i bought the 79 dollar server. 10bmit unmeter server

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-15-2006, 03:58 PM
ok are they faster than managed.com ? reliability wise how are they? do they own managed.com or do they own the server room ? cos if they owned managed.com, why buy from them again? wouldnt their service be the same - terrible? Let e know your thoughts?

Posted by SniperJoe, 03-15-2006, 04:04 PM
From what I learned. Webhostplus.com owns managed.com Webhostplus is east coast and managed.com is west coast. 2 different datacenters. 2 different offices. I don't know the speed or stable issues but its bad practice not to inform your customers of a major outage like this one. They should of been making phone calls to account holders while everything was down. But I don't know how much of a move they had. I bet it was big though. I personally are going to move. 20 bucks cheaper is good in my book.

EMAIL FROM SUPPORT FINALLY. YA! ------------------------------------------------- Dear Customers: We had some technical difficulties last night that resulted in our & nameserver resolvers going down. Customer servers should all be online however as we re-routed all servers to another pipe. If your server is still offline, due to the mass amount of tickets, please re-submit your ticket as this is a mass response. Thank you. Respectfully, -xxxxx Managed.com Support Staff ---------------------------------------------------

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-15-2006, 04:37 PM
ure rite, i just learnt that managed will be moving over to webhostplus. I know from a past email from support at managed i was told that we would be getting new hardware, well the new hardware and a new datacenter with bigger pipes is in actual fact webhostplus.com i was chatting with sales and support, absolutely helpfull, im also going 2 get a box with them, and then a secondy account in my own country. thanks for finding this out initially, my server is still offline, but support from webhostplus is looking into how long it will be for my server to be back on, so at least i know where i stand. are you back online as yet? btw, which server did you order for 75usd, i cant find anything for 75usd Thanks Jaswin

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-15-2006, 06:04 PM
Update Just got news that most of the servers have been moved to the new building. If your server is in the Class C range, 65.75.130... ive been told it should take another 30 - 40 minutes before its back up.

Posted by LoginTech, 03-15-2006, 06:22 PM
Did they tell any of you guys they were doing this before they did it?....

Posted by SniperJoe, 03-15-2006, 06:33 PM
nope they didn't. they'll lose me to webhostplus.com. im pulling data off now and waiting for the other server to be activated

Posted by kaioken, 03-15-2006, 07:22 PM
same, im out of, no more black out... damn next time call or send a email damn

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-16-2006, 06:45 AM
Guess what, the lovely managed.com is down again! Emails just dont come through from any external server to managed ive been told yet again, they are working on it. Cant they manage their own network?

Posted by Im_Goodspeed, 03-16-2006, 08:21 AM
I'll leave them as soos as I get my server back and dowload latest backup. It's just WASTE OF MONEY.

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-16-2006, 08:32 AM
a huge waste of money in fact. i cant even get hold of them on the phone, terrible. who u u moving to ? btw, how do u download a backup of everything?

Posted by Im_Goodspeed, 03-16-2006, 10:14 AM
I'm going to move ev1. There is no secret on how to get backup, I'll wait untill they resolve this horrible problem and get my server online

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-16-2006, 10:23 AM
ok are you completely offline? i was completely offline the whole of last nite , more than 24 hours, today it came back on, but now i cant recieve email from any1, what problem are you having?

Posted by avythe, 03-16-2006, 11:49 AM
My server @managed.com has been down for two weeks or so now. They refuse to answer emails or phone calls and now their live chat seems to be gone. WOOHOO FUN STUFF!

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-16-2006, 02:04 PM
Hi Serpico, It seems that managed.com is now actually owned by webhostplus.com Give them a call and explain that you are a managed.com subscriber, they will assist. There service is tops and they actually answer the calls. If you give them the IP they can sort out. If you check the number on ur credit card statement, ul notice it is the webhostplus.com number. Dont get me wrong tho, managed.com support and datacenter is on the opp side of the country as webhostplus.com, but apparantly managed.com will be moving clients to the webhostplus.com facility in a month or two. As with lots of us, im signing up with webhostplus.com now to avoid problems as managed.com isnt very helpful at all. Call them, and theyl assist, speak to Steve Wolf, hes good, he called managed.coms support people for me and attended to my problems. Also try emailing support@managed.com now from a gmail account, they responded to my mail earlier, but took ages anyways. Let me know if i can help, i know how frustrating this can be.

Posted by Coolraul, 03-16-2006, 10:59 PM
Please someone help me here. I am missing something. You are having problems with managed.com who is owned by webhostplus.com right? So the solution is to move from managed to whp? Are you not leaving a poorly performing company and moving to the same company? Why would you do that? What could you possibly gain other than the same people (at least management)? Is it just that you paid for dirt cheap servers got burned and now are looking for more dirt cheap servers? If so then yes you deserve what you get.

Posted by Jazzafrica, 03-17-2006, 02:27 AM
Well not really. currently managed.com is on its own datacenter on the opp side of webhostplus.com. They have their own management presently. The move will take place in 2 months. Webhostplus.com is on a multi backbone platform with bigger pipes, better hardware, and suppport. I called webhostplus.com 4 times on 2days, i had conversations with them online as well, and the support staff were extremely helpfull. One could wait untill managed.com physically transfers data of ours to the new hardware and network at webhostplus.com, but that could take a month or two, and then service should improve greatly as it will be managed by webhostplus. Im speaking from my experience over the last three days, the team at webhostplus were helpfull and i appreciate that.

I can't wait 2 months until they move.

Posted by WebDork, 03-18-2006, 08:59 PM
I have been with managed.com for 3-4 years with 4 boxes. In the last week 2 boxes hard disks have died and I dont seem to be able to email reboot@managed.com any more ? Been waiting on a reboot for over 12 hours now. Have posted reboot request to support@managed.com but no response there either. Whats going on with them these days ?

Posted by avythe, 03-18-2006, 09:02 PM
No idea. I was told to contact http://livechat.webhostplus.com, so I did, and they told me to call them. So I called, left a message, nobody ever called me back. Good luck to all of us heh.

Posted by WebDork, 03-19-2006, 03:11 AM
I will be moving my servers to layeredtech I think. Managed.com is just too unreliable. My server is still offline some 20 hours later. Layered offers 100Mbit ports whereas managed is still 10Mbit, so its a pretty easy decision I think.
