Is anyone else having some trouble with Dreamhost's DNS? Nothing of theirs resolves for me (or DNSStuff) which is starting to be pretty problematic

Hey, I can't do anything at the moment, Dreamhost.com has just died. Everything about it is not responding, nothing responds to ping, the FTP is down, ns1.dreamhost.com is not up, dreamhost.com isnt up. Does anyone know whats happend? Im quite annoyed, I dont think its maintenance, atleast I hope its not because if it is then its bad service especially since they didnt send me an email to tell me. www.dreamhost.com

Probably a network outage? How long have they been down? I'd give them at least 30 to 60 minutes before getting worried

Posted by Kalyse, 04-09-2006, 07:03 AM
90 Minutes Approx. Its been 90 Minutes since I noticed it

Check here… http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=503183 (should me moved to this forum shortly) There website seems to be very slow.

The servers are continually slow. They overload them so much. But I am not too bothered. 1TB per month suits me, its mainly the control panel that is unbvelieveably slow

Slow to load - might be due to them overloading their servers to fit all of those huge plans on. It will be worth contacting them and complaining about the downtime and asking them why the server is so slow

It wasn't just dreamhost. To fix you addon domains, delete and readd them

Posted by startsphere, 04-09-2006, 11:06 AM
This could go down on their record if enough people notice

DREAMHOST IS RUNNING AWAY WITH YOUR MONEY AND DOMAINS! Just kidding. Haha. 99% Uptime means they will be down 3-4 times a year. 99% in webhosting isn't good enough IMO.

Cyrus: For what people pay (and receive resource-wise) at dreamhost, I think 99% is darn good.

I've had no downtime(or slowness) for the last few weeks. Looks like an isolated, or a shared hosting , event.

Guess what? They are down AGAIN!? Come on I cant work like this. I paid 12 months upfront. Is there any chance I get a refund from them? I dont know there policies but this is ridiculous.

Wow, their website is loading attrociously slow now as well. Regarding refunds and contract revisions, see: http://dreamhost.com/tos.html

Their site does seem a little slow, but nothing to panic about unless you run a high bandwidth site. Remember you get what you pay for.
