Thrillinghill down over 24 hrs

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-16-2006, 09:43 PM
anyone know what's up with thrillinghill.com? I have had downtime before but it was fixed soon it's been over 24 hours yet the problem is fixed. I sent rockinstan serveral aim messages and still no responce. Has anyone else had bad experiences with them so far? I'm more angry as I opened a new site and its been running great for the 1st week and now server is down, even there support area is down.... Should they have there hosting site page on another server so if the server is down we can still reach them or get a notice? Last edited by FreshFroot; 01-16-2006 at 09:46 PM.

If you cant get a response out of them, maybe its time to move.

sorry have to edit my post lol its thrillinghill.com I haven't been able to access anything nor get any support from them.

If you are trying to find the problem, take your pick of one of the possible following reasons: 1. They went out of business 2. They did not pay their bills, so the company took their hosting and emails down. 3. The companies server HDD failed, so all data is lost and although they advertise 24/7 tech support, it is taking 24 hours to get server back online. 4. They are on vacation and are not monitoring their server. It could be a number of bad reasons why you are not getting any response. That is not good. That is why it is always good to go with the bigger companies and skip the middle person regarding hosting. If your site is important and critical to your business and is a big source of income for you, then go with the big web host companies that have the resources and money to be around another 10-20 years. And lastly, always have a backup of your site!

Thanks for the heads up however, in the past I never really had a problem there was downtime but very short one which wasn't too bad with me. Although now its almost 24 hours so thats way too much of a downtime. I sent a message to Rockinstan on aim and he wouldn't reply back even though it showed him online.

Avoiding you, a bad sign. I would suggest you get a new hosting provider.

Posted by Bahawolf, 01-16-2006, 10:59 PM
I would suggest a new host as well.. I personally never go with a host unless they have phone support availible 24/7. I'd like to know I can always contact them, if I need to.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-16-2006, 11:33 PM
yes I already got a new host now I need to move but it's still frusterating I did have a backup of most of my thinks but some are still there so I will have to giveup some non real major things. I'll live I'm sure Thanks for the help so far guys. I hope the host replies though to explain what's going on. If it was a good host atleast they would let me know what's going on.

Posted by spikez202, 01-17-2006, 12:04 AM
Goog luck with that situation. Hopefully your next host will be better.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-17-2006, 03:37 AM
Thanks for the offer jmweb but I don't want you to waste any money. Thanks for the generous offer but I'd rather not have you spend extra bucks on a stranger Although if someone lives near that area and would like to make a call thats free to you as I do not want anyone to carry a even small burden please let me know. Thanks and thanks again to you jmweb

ServersLS, I'd be willing to make the call -- domestic US calls cost almost nothing. I have a feeling this will be an interesting conversation.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-17-2006, 03:54 AM
Hi cubision thanks I'll PM you the number and thanks again for the help cubision and also jmweb

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-17-2006, 03:57 AM
actually seems like I can't PM would you be able to email me? or let me know your email address?

Posted by noodles2k5, 01-17-2006, 04:07 AM
I'm also a bit worried. I've been a customer for years and service is usually great. I hope I'll be able to recover my files.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-17-2006, 04:12 AM
Not sure if cubision will be able to see since it got moved but if anyone can PM him and let him know he can use the email link to email me I can send him the number. As for you noodles2k5 I don't blame you I've never had a serious problem till now, but I believe he still cheated people and as a host hurt his reputation and his companies reputation. He atleast should have told all the customers what's going on so we feel that we are okay. He didn't mention anything or respond on aim every single time I asked him after every hour then he goes on away after 3 hours.

Hello Everyone, I can not apolgize enough for the downtime today and yesterday - Just to get it out I am not trying to cheat anyone, nor am ignoring anyone on AIM when they try to talk to me, it is simply this new version of AIM, Triton or something like that, continues to lock up/exit IM's without me doing anything. Okay, as for the downtime, this is being caused due to bad hardware originally, which then turned into a complete mess. The server provider ThrillingHill currently uses is www.server4sale.com - They originally explained a different issue was the problem, then took the server offline and started saying the boot sector 'blew up'. They then said a new hdd was being installed and started moving the old data onto the new hdd. This has been taking place for 20 hours I do not understand how it can take this long, and have now been promised that within 2 hours everything will be back online. Refunds will be offered to everyone ofcourse, as I have no reason to steal anyones money and I know how bad downtime is for everyone. The whole reason I started this company 3+ years ago was because I was sick of bad providers and getting ripped off as well, and I do wish to be like that. All data is still on the hdd and should be fine. Again, I am so sorry for this to all of my customers. Anyone can AIM me on my AIM name - Rockinstan - And I will be happy to discuss it further with you as I can (May take a few minutes as I am talking to multiple people currently. edit - Also, I have been trying for 16 hours to get www.thrillinghill.com online through another host, but it appears to be an issue with godaddy.com right now which I am trying to get fixed as the domain is not propogating correctly. ServersLS - I am sorry for not responding on AIM, As I said above these new versions of AIM for some reason have not worked on any PC's I have, I have now installed Trillian and can chat ok. We can confirm this is an issue. They are in constant communication with us. I dont want to disclose the exact nature. However rescue operation is already in progress for past 15 hours or so. A new hard drive have been installed and rescue operation is underway.

what datacenter was this in?

Posted by server4sale, 01-17-2006, 08:59 PM
AlphaRed / Orangefiber. Initially AR tech were trying to resolve the issue.

So how much longer I've waited for days now? I want to access my files as well so hopefully you can speed things up a bit. I mean I opened a new forum and it's been 4 days we were doing great and now I have people who are angry. I just hope you can resolve this very soon so we can all go back with our lives.

Posted by Mallclerks, 01-17-2006, 10:42 PM
It should not be much longer now - We have everyones data confirmed to be ok, along with the server being back online. We are working on bringing the accounts back online now.

Posted by ayksolutions, 01-17-2006, 11:06 PM
Sorry to hear that. Seems like Stan's a good provider. Its not every day you see an honest response like that along with a sincere apology. I applaud him for that and wish him the best. Remember, things like this happen to everyone.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-17-2006, 11:09 PM
Sounds good and thanks for the cooperation I appreciate it at as it's stressing but thanks for updating us on the situtation.

Posted by Mallclerks, 01-18-2006, 12:33 AM
Right now I have steven from rack911.com taking a look at it, as he is the smartest guy I know for things like this. Apparently when alphared/server4sale were working on the server they deleted the /etc folder which contains usernames/ftp accounts/email accounts. I am trying to get as much information as I can about this now as it seems when AlphaRed tried to correct the server they did nothing but mess things up much worse then they were. I am hoping Steven from rack911 will be able to help me in this situation since he is the most knowledgeable (sp?) person I know for when issues like this occurs.

sites are back online, ftp/cpanel login will not work yet, visit www.thrillinghill.com for more updates.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-18-2006, 02:40 AM
Thanks for the update Stan, my cpanel and ftp seem to be working fine.

Posted by RyanD, 01-18-2006, 05:35 AM
fyi, your site returns a 500 error

Posted by Mallclerks, 01-18-2006, 03:44 PM
It was a temporary issue as the domain was being updated. Everything is working again other then a few remaining issues with some users passwords.

Posted by noodles2k5, 01-20-2006, 01:25 AM
Good to see my websites are alive and well as of yesterday though I'm one of the few remaining users who can't log into Cpanel yet.

Posted by FreshFroot, 01-21-2006, 03:15 AM
Well my cpanel worked fine however some things like how much space I've used doesn't show up. I must be using atleast 75MB and it shows 0. Mabye they are fixing things up still, although it doesn't effect me as I am not even close to my limit. Thanks again though Stan for getting us back up again, I appreciate it.

Hate to say it and to double post.... but the WHOLE server is down again.......... Lets hope this time the hard drive isn't fried..... So far its been 12 hrs, since the downtime. Stan I hope you can let us know what's going on. Thanks.

Posted by FreshFroot, 06-03-2006, 10:03 PM
Well it's been over 24 hrs now.... still no responce via aim... no point in emailing you, as your site is down and I'm sure your email will be down along with it.

Posted by Duport, 06-03-2006, 11:25 PM
Thrillinghill's website is online now you'll be pleased to know

Posted by FreshFroot, 06-04-2006, 01:26 AM
Thanks, I couldn't contact Stan, so I contacted the datacenter and I believe they got the server up.

Posted by FreshFroot, 06-07-2006, 01:33 AM
Well once again... downtime and lag... Usally thrillinghill is great and so far I haven't had a issue till the last few days... Server goes down for 2 hours, after it's up mysql goes down, and I was told they were upgrading. Then the server lags for a long time... and after it goes down.... No responce from support via aim.

Posted by ryan1918, 06-08-2006, 02:58 AM
So what's going on, maybe it's time to change hosts..

Posted by FreshFroot, 06-15-2006, 11:55 PM
well they finally went back up... seemed to do alright... now its down again.. I msg the owner on AIM he just went offline after, without a reply.
