Hey, this happens a lot. I am a customer too... I can recall this happening about 3 times prior, and it just happened today. I am considering switching hosts because they never informed me whats going on...

ok I am very aggitated with this situation. I tell you whats going on right now. 1 - there main website is down 2 - my website is down 3 - ftp is down 4 - email is down (what do they run this hosting company off one server or something!?) and 5 - I am waiting on VERY important emails to come in. If they didn't come through, then I probably just lost TWO potential business partners!!! >.< Now in the world of business, thats a lot of money... UGH... This is my testimony, I'm switching off this company immediately.

I switched to Dreamhost, although very tempting, remember you have to be a geek to use this company. They don't use cPanel X, and is a little unfriendly to newbies, but there support is excellent. I had to download soms SSH program to initially setup the database. It takes a while for all the DNS servers to sync up. So if your into complex things and love to learn, try Dreamhost, but remember it's a bit complex.

Im considering switching and upgrading to a VPS from PowerVps

Yes does look like Vivehosting existance of a company is short lived. The phone number posted for the owner Jeffrey in his domain name is disconnected as well. With a single server doesn't seem to be anyway to contact him. Sympathy goes out to all others here, is a frustrating situation.

Does anyone have a means to contact Vivehosting other then his web site?

He has been down a few other times for a couple days in the past month and it always manages to come back on line. Hopefully this will be the case again.

I managed to get hold of the Vivehosting guy, here is his response..... Hi, unfortunately, vivehosting has been brought to a screeching halt by paypal. The majority of the revenue comes from paypal, and all costs were being paid through paypal debit. I'm sure you've heard horror stories regarding paypal, well... I've fallen victim to their game. They decided it would be in their best interest to lock my account without explanation which resulted in the datacenter turning off the servers for lack of payment. There really isn't anything I can do about the situation without losing a vast amount of money, so I'm just going to give up. I suggest you cancel any subscriptions you have with vivehosting, and I hope you kept backups of your data because it's completely lost. There isn't much I can do at this point, but suggest another hosting provider. http://www.webonce.com is a very good alternative and can probably maintain a better service than vivehosting ever has. I apologize for the downtime and the lack of assistance, but I'm left with no options.

I also know ViveHosting has a AIM address reachable at "vivesupport"...

Wow, he really listed our url? I'm quite touched, honestly. For the record, we have no affiliation with them other than hosting one of his projects for a while. I am really sorry to hear about what has happened to you guys. It bites when paypal decides to play games with people's cashflow, and not everyone is always prepared for it. It can lead to rotten things like this happening. I wish you all the best of luck with whoever you go to next for your hosting needs.
