HiVelocity down!

Posted by GeekDub, 12-14-2006, 06:08 PM
hivelocity.net is down!! Anyone know why?

Posted by Darph Bobo, 12-14-2006, 06:13 PM
I don't know why either, but this is the 2nd big outage I have had in 2 months. I am beginning to think I made a mistake moving a server to them.

Posted by GeekDub, 12-14-2006, 06:15 PM
Yeah.. if you decide to move, go with SoftLayer, they have BETTER plans MORE bandwidth and alot better reviews then HiVelocity, not to mention the speeds are faster, and sometimes double the speed of HV!

Yep .. definately down .. can't access it and my monitoring is also showing it as down.

Has anyone heard what the problem is? My server's still down. I'm really getting pissed off, I'm probably going to end up moving next month. These network outages just keep happening.

Good luck with the Live Chat; here is my experience from a few minutes ago: Please wait for a site operator to respond. You are now chatting with 'Vick R.' Vick R.: Support Desk, How can I help you? FocusApps: Hi Vick, I have a colo machine at Hivelocity that's been down for a while. Can you give me an ETA on when it'll be back up? Chat session has ended.

Posted by FocusApps, 12-14-2006, 07:02 PM
Our colo machine is back up; total outage of about 30 minutes.

We had a maintenance window last night where we performed a software upgrade on our core router. Throughout this morning and afternoon we had customers complaining of sporatic issues. We decided to go back to the old software image on the core router. Unfortunately, we ran into some problems during the re-imaging process. Everything is back up now and should be back to normal. We apologize for the inconvenience. Obviously downtime is something none of us want, especially around this time of the year. If you are still with any issue please contact our support department immediately.

Yea, not only that but they have been having 1-2 second outages across the network all day long. Before this last outage they were occuring every 7-10 minutes. If your hosting a website you won't notice this maybe, but we stream radio so it is VERY noticable :-/ Mind you, the 1-2 second outages could be as a result of a malfunctioning router on their end and this "reboot" could be a fix for it.

The reason for your chat getting disconnected is due to the network issues we were having. Our tech Vick did not intentionally disconnect with you. Sorry again for the problems.

Isn't the chat hosted by liveperson.net?

Posted by hivelocitygm, 12-14-2006, 07:14 PM
Other than the maintenance windows where our network might run slow or go down for only a minute or two while we reboot a router or switch, we have had no recent downtime. If you have been with issue recently please PM your server information so I can have a tech look into it.

Posted by hivelocitygm, 12-14-2006, 07:16 PM
Yes, but if you have no connectivity in your office the chats will disconnect.

I have only been with you for 2 months, and have already seen 2 outages like this. Ans - as someone up in the thread said - I get a dozen or more 'mini' outages every day. I put in a ticket where he changed my switch port from full to half duplex, but it is still happening.
