CIHost down!!!!

Posted by neodepo, 02-26-2007, 11:26 AM
I have a small dedicated server with CIHost. Today the server was working and around 9:15 EST the service failed. I guess they are having major issues since the support page and their official site are also unreachable. They are not answering phones... Does anybody have any information regarding this issue??? I have been down for 1Hour.....

I've got two colo boxen at CI Host's CDC-01 (and others in their other data centers). CDC-01 went down at approximately 6:30 AM this morning. It has not recovered. This outage also has taken out: http://www.cihost.com/ (the company site) and, http://www.hostingsupport.com/ (the support system). The phone system's network status wasn't updated until 8:20 with the outage, but after camping on hold for a while, I was able to get: CDC 01 down for emergency power maintenance. No cause was given for the outage (though a miswired generator and an electrical fire have been cause for "emergency power maintenance" in the past, IIRC) and I was given an ETR that would have put the systems back up by 9:30 AM CST. It's now approaching 10AM CST. While I have no choice about having servers with CI Host, I wanted to 1) make others aware of the purported cause of the outage and 2) warn others that unexplained outages in CDC 01 are a common occurrence.

I can now get the support site but not their main or any of the sites we have in the Dallas center.

I can see CIHost.com here.

CDC-01 (Bedford) where cihost, hostingsupport, and most of their servers are located went offline at 630 AM CST for what they claim was "emergency power maintenance". They gave several ETR's, the most recent of which was 930A CST. They missed that by about an hour. It appears all of CDC01 is impacted, even though some sites (including cihost.com) came back up for a few minutes. It appears the other data centers are not impacted.

I can reach now cihost.com and hostingsupport.com but my server is still unreachable. I have opened a suport ticket but haven't got any reply yet. They have not published anything at the network status page. Let's hope this to be solved as soon as possible.

Remember - you've got to open a ticket before requesting credit. http://www.hostingsupport.com/index....kets&_a=submit *** and, before I could link up the "request credit" page, it looks like it's down again.

I just called again. Time on hold was ~20 mins. I got someone @ 11:37. She claims ETR 1h. No knowledge of cause other than "Emergency Power Maintenance".

Tried their main site and it cannot be displayed. They were the first hosting company I ever used and I would never consider using them again. I remember being down days and thought it was normal. After six months, I learned that servers were supposed to be up more than they were down. That was about 10 years ago and I was very new to the industry

They have just added this to the Network Status Page, it is a new post but has a wrong date (Feb 20/07 4:28 PM) 2 hous a go this post was not there... so I guess they refer to today's outage Host: CDC01 Type: Other Subject: Emergency Power Maintenance Notes: CDC01, Dallas TX - Experiencing power issues, ETA 2 Hours. We will keep you notified of any changes in status. Thank you for your patience. http://www.hostingsupport.com/networkstatus/

Still down for me. Anyone want to wager that their lawyers will attempt to get this thread closed?
