Poundhost DOWN!!! BETWEEN 7:50 - 8:10

Posted by CymraegWalesHosting, 03-18-2007, 04:21 PM
Hi. I would just like to say that the entire poundhost network has been down between these times. I have just spoken to poundhost and it was due to human error. People who are located in the BlueSquare DC would have noticed downtime. Before speaking to PH i spoke to Bluesquare (unable to get hold of PH, due to them using VOIP for phone) and they said they had a network faliure Thanks,

I had ~30 seconds of downtime at ~20:10 . I was told it was a network glitch. edit: I'm hosted in BlueSqaureData (not with poundhost). Last edited by WebHosting2-UK; 03-18-2007 at 04:48 PM.

Just by me reading what i posted. I noticed a few things that were incorrect. I have also just spoken to PH to clarify some stuff. There was human error between these times, however it did NOT affect the whole of customers in BlueSquare, just some network segments, and our phone system is NOT VOIP (we have removed this system), just it was busy with customers on the phone. Thanks, Nathaniel

Yeah I have 2 servers there, one with a2b2 and one with poundhost, they both went down for about 5 minutes max. I'm not having much luck this week with the problems at FDC as well lol, thats enough of my moaning for now..

Okay calm down whats with the CAPS IS VERY ANNOYING. Here is the email Matthew sent (he ALWAYS updates on every single maitance , glitch , error). Dear Customer, Some customers may have noticed a loss of connectivity at some point between the times of 19:50 and 20:05 tonight. This was unfortunately caused by human error on my part, and I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Whilst carrying out routine work to add a new customers VLAN to our core routers in London docklands I inadvertently mistyped the VLAN 'add' command which resulted in some VLANs being 'locked out' of the network. I rectified this as soon as it was bought to my attention which restored network connectivity to the customers on the VLANs affected. We learn from our lessons and needless to say I wont be issuing that command again, and will be tripple checking what I type in future. Again, sorry for any inconvenience caused this evening. Best Regards, Matthew

You have to respect someone that says "I made a mistake, sorry".

Yep he emails about every single thing I am not concerned about which is fine with me because at least I was notified rather than seeing if my site is down , network etc

They tell me it's a DOS attack and are working on it.

I had ~4 minutes downtime due to a DOS attack. All is fine now and well dealt with imo.
