I was just told it's a massive DDOS and they're working hard to deal with it. It's massive enough to fill up their pipes

Any sense of an ETA at all?

Posted by trustedurl.com, 03-21-2007, 07:57 AM
No ETA at the moment, I didn't want to talk to main network person too long, instead of talking to me, trying to determine an ETA, I'd figure working on the problem was a better idea. edit: I know they're working on this, but it appears to be a huge DDOS, but the quicker the target(s) are dealt with, the quicker this is resolved. Fair enough. That's really bad news for us though, as we have to assume the worst scenario as a matter of due diligance and start bailing our most important sites out of there, which is a mess. Hopefully you can let us know if you hear anything else.

And we're back.

Thank goodness. One question that has always nagged me... how come we never here of the scum that do this sort of thing being tracked down and thrown in jail? Are they never caught? Does anyone ever try? I don't get it.

That does happen, it's just very hard and trust me, everyone involved definetely tries. This costs everyone $$, so it's a real world crime, with real world consequences. e.g.: http://www.computerworld.com/action/...&taxonomyId=16 What I wonder about though is... why does it have to be 7.32am!? Igh.

That DDos was cut to pieces quite fast!!! Good job by the Cyberwurx team.

Actually, they most likely rebooted the router or switches.
