Pronic Solutions DNS not responding?

Posted by roblgs, 03-28-2007, 07:00 AM
Anyone with Pronic Solutions able to shed any light on today's apparent loss of dns service at there... even the company website is not resolving, although websites hosted there can be accessed using IP addresses, where known, so the servers live, at least. If anyone has managed to contact Pronic support I'd be happy to know what the timeframe for a solution is, or to know of some means of contacting them other than email or their website, which clearly aren't working right now. In over four years of hosting with them this is the first outage I've experienced... service has otherwise been excellent, so I'm more than a little surprised by this. Regards Rob

Second try. Wouldn't let me post the first - apparantly you have to submit 5 posts in order to put in a link???? Bizarre. Anyway - here we go again. I just got off their live chat - you can find it by Googling "contact ProNic solutions" and clicking on the cached pages link. The person I "spoke" with told me that their core switch went down. They have repaired it and are repopulating the data. They said they should be back up and running by noon - or possibly earlier. I have been with them since 2003 and this is the first time I have not been able to contact them through thier help desk support email. They even got through the hurricane with no problems. I got nervous when I saw that their own site was down, but I was glad to find that live chat - it's good to know. They are the best! Great rates - good tech support - great service!

Me again - Just got a reply to the email I sent earlier to support@pronicsolutions.com "Unfortunately for the first time ever, our primary DNS server failed this morning causing other DNS servers to be unable to resolve domain names to IP addresses. Even though, all sites were up and running, typing a domain name onto a browser would have yielded a time out when connecting to your account. As of today we will be implementing alternate and more redundant DNS servers to prevent this from happening again in the future. We will be issuing service credits for this outage. To receive the credit, simply send an email to billing@pronicsolutions.com."

Hi, I'd tried Googling, but didn't find the live chat solution... thought I'd tried all the likely search phrases too!! Yes, I just got the same message in response to my email to them. I have to agree with you... Seems like we've been with them roughly the same amount of time and with similar experience of all round excellent and friendly service... making this episode all the more surprising. Cheers Rob

It's on the ProNic contact us page - contact.html - near the bottom. Still can't post urls - need at least 2 more posts :-) Anyway - I see that their site is back up - don't forget to ask for your credit!
