Level(3) - Anyone having issues?
Posted by HNLV, 09-13-2007, 06:11 PM |
Is anyone experiencing issues on the Level3 network in their NYC area? It seems when I run a traceroute, the ping times get really high when it reaches level3 NYC.
Wow, even level3's website is not loading properly, it going up and down.
Any ideas?

It seems there is a problem when it goes through their NYC routers.

Someone tried to do a trace from Illinois and they've experienced no issues, so it seems its only affect a part of the routes and its dependent on from where you access the network from as well.

Could you post the traceroute where you're seeing the issue?

Well, now that I run the trace everything looks fine, yesterday it was crazy for some reason.

Although I cannot argue the fact no one is perfect, I am a bit annoyed to see issues with level(3) more often than our other providers whom we have been using longer than level(3).

If you deal directly with Level(3) as you say, why not ask them for an RFO? If Level(3) was having serious problems in the NYC area there would be a lot more complaints. It could be very isolated issue, but I'm still somewhat doubting it.
