Posted by holiday hosting, 11-18-2007, 07:17 AM
my server is down and i cant get hold of support. i am using a reseller package and would like to know what is going on. is there a way i check the status of my server? thanks

what's your domain name and even better....who is your hosting provider? and don't they have a phone number? since you have a reseller package, it's very likely that other resellers on the same server as you will be facing the same drama. how long's the server been showing offline? owm Last edited by Outlaw Web Master; 11-18-2007 at 07:27 AM.

thanks for the reply. this is the nameserver. the ive used this hosting for a good few years and the tech guy has usually been good, and it rarely has gone down. anyways this is the nameserver DNS1.1HHH.COM My server has been offline since yesterday afternoon. I was hoping i could run some sort of check on the server myself so i would have to reply on waiting for the support. I can imagine they get inundated with correspondance at these moments and it wil be fixed shortly. but its coming close to 24 hours Last edited by holiday hosting; 11-18-2007 at 07:43 AM.

The server's online and appears to be running. It looks possibly that the apache has crashed and needs restarted. If you email support they should be able to fix this for you. owm Last edited by Outlaw Web Master; 11-18-2007 at 07:46 AM.

That should be good reason enough to have confidence in the provider you're with mate. Hopefully it'll be sorted out in a matter of a few hours or whatever. owm

Who is your provider? Some people here may be able to offer some reviews on the company.

Posted by holiday hosting, 11-18-2007, 07:55 AM
im not sure who the supplier is anymore i think the company changed hands several times

Posted by Outlaw Web Master, 11-18-2007, 07:59 AM
it would depend on many things. would be a lot better if the hosting company's website was up though the company changed hands serveral times yes...but what is or was your last recollection of the company name? owm

Posted by Outlaw Web Master, 11-18-2007, 08:04 AM
ok so you haven't been charged for a few years and you've always had good support.

Posted by holiday hosting, 11-18-2007, 08:07 AM
ive never required a lot of support. i dont know what is going on exactly, ive assumed that the current company going to be sold.

hmm....you don't want to go telling folks that bud anyway....you got a few years free hosting and they threw in support too. sadly though...good things can often come to an end. owm

I'd make sure you have a full backup just incase that is the case or if they are sold. If it becomes a regular occurrence then it's time to switch providers.

Very interesting all of this Cant really complain for free hosting Though I would advise never too late to take a backup just in case or find out the provider and pay so you have protection from any other sort of distruption....

Moved to Network Outage.

Posted by holiday hosting, 11-18-2007, 08:16 AM
what does that mean??? Network Outage??

Posted by boonchuan, 11-18-2007, 08:17 AM
For your information If you are having problems accessing a provider's network, post about them in this section. Posts made in the main section will be moved here. Providers, feel free to use this section to post network "status" updates etc. This Forum is not for anything resembling sales. We have provided this service so that providers can keep their clients updated, and clients can seek advice from their provider. All sales related posts will be removed. This forum is provided to discuss current outage issues and to allow a way for customers and providers to communicate. Comments by non-customers will be removed. If you are not a current customer, there is no need for you to post. Reviews are only suitable in the appropriate main forum category.

It means your issue was actually - or possibly - just a temporary network issue (thats why you couldnt access your hosting/reseller). Anyhow CPanel offers a "Full Backup option" - you can have it done to another server or hosting account, or into your own FTP account and then download it or whatever. CPanel alterantively also offers - Home directory backups or mysql backups if you want smaller backups and not the entire thing..but yes backups are very much possible and very much recommended.
