Posted by Chariot, 07-09-2008, 01:21 PM

Posted by TheMethod, 07-09-2008, 01:22 PM
Frustrating because my server was getting a lot of hits from a top story and now its down!

Posted by manindarkjp, 07-09-2008, 01:23 PM
I have never called them before. Do you know what time is it now in US? Their homepage is down too.

Posted by TheMethod, 07-09-2008, 01:25 PM
Where volumedrive is located it is 1:25 PM Eastern

Posted by Chariot, 07-09-2008, 01:26 PM
Way lot frustrating, I have lots of old clients whose licenses were bound to my server.

Posted by manindarkjp, 07-09-2008, 01:31 PM
I just called them again and a lady picked up the phone. It seems they do not know the network down yet.

Posted by Chariot, 07-09-2008, 01:33 PM
oh, great. what she answered? I wonder if they don't have sms notifications. 1 hour passed.

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 01:33 PM
I've been down to for an hour. Email sent to them bounced as undeliverable. I don't have their phone number... can someone post it please. Need to know what's going on. -Joe

Posted by TheMethod, 07-09-2008, 01:34 PM
1 hour has passed, hopefully they fix it as soon as possible...

Posted by manindarkjp, 07-09-2008, 01:34 PM
She said she will send the message to support team and they will fix it as soon as possible.

Posted by brunoje, 07-09-2008, 01:35 PM
My server is off to 1 hour. Support does not respond.

Posted by Chariot, 07-09-2008, 01:36 PM
Just posted it on the previous page: volumedrive general phone 1-862-266-1083

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 01:43 PM
A woman answered the phone and said that "we're aware of the problem and it's with the ISP provider". I asked her what that means, but she just repeated it and told me "they're working on it". I don't think she knew any other info. I didn't like the sound of the answer. Makes me very nervous about VolumeDrive. -Joe

It is back up now otis

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 01:46 PM
I guess I'm not that lucky... still down. -Joe

Posted by Chariot, 07-09-2008, 01:48 PM
it's unbelievable! They don't have sms notification? Should we buy it for them? If Josh lets us know - I will be definitely glad to buy it to them.

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 01:53 PM
I'm on the 66.197.149.xxx subnet and still down. Anybody near that IP have service? I've tried to call them a couple more times... just a recording to leave a message.

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 01:58 PM
Finally back online. Down 86 minutes. -Joe

Posted by TheMethod, 07-09-2008, 01:58 PM
One of my servers are on it and it's working fine here.

Posted by templaters, 07-09-2008, 02:10 PM
One of the Things I know about josh, if the network goes down night or day he is working on solving the problem. I am happy with volumedrive myself, all companies have down time even the big boys. One of my clients called me and said otis why are my websites down so much with you, all the big companies don't have down time. So I said your websites are up pretty darn good, and if you want to go with a big company and pay big bucks go right ahead. But they all have down time. Otis

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 02:20 PM
If anyone learns the reason for the downtime please let the rest of us know. Thanks, -Joe

Posted by quadix, 07-09-2008, 02:59 PM
We sincerely apologize about the downtime, all network functionality has been restored. It seems the cause was a core distribution switch with our ISP that went down, which has been replaced. Please contact us if you are having any issues.

Thanks for the reply Josh. I'm glad the problem was taken care of fairly quickly, but the one frustrating part of all this was that it was nearly impossible to get in touch with someone. When the network goes down, so does the VD email system. What would be the best way to get in touch with you in case of future issues like this?

Posted by pedroivomedeiros, 07-09-2008, 03:11 PM
I think that if every client want to talk to them when there is a huge ploblem, they won`t have time to solve the problem hehehe. Its better they spend time solving instead of giving reasons. Reasons they give after solving the problem.

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 03:41 PM
I for one would be willing to be down an additional minute or two in exchange for a simple email broadcast message letting customers know that they're aware of the problem. Even another 30 seconds for an update would not bother me when compared to waiting in the dark not knowing when or if things will be back online. -Joe

Joe, We do apologize for the delay in updating everyone as to the status. However, when we are crisis mode, we do try to focus on getting everything sorted ASAP. In response to expediting a response on any emergencies. We will be creating a status page within the new client portal that is being released shortly.

Posted by Chariot, 07-09-2008, 03:56 PM
Josh, do you have sms notification of your network status? It looked like the woman on the phone heard about the problem from us when we called her (but we called 30 minutes later). do you have automatic notification?

Posted by quadix, 07-09-2008, 04:06 PM
We are physically on site 24 x 7 and very aware of the network status. You spoke with customer service which is a different department. Operations at which point you probably called was already addressing the issue.

Posted by csgo, 07-09-2008, 04:41 PM
Josh, Thanks for the update. Even if you could post a message here it would be great. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but just a little info would go a long way to help. Doesn't have to be elaborate... just letting customers know about the problem. Nothing is needed for a couple of minutes of downtime of course, but when we get into extended periods like today we need to know something. Thanks, -Joe

Posted by quadix, 07-09-2008, 04:46 PM
Since our offices are in the DC and the network was down... we can't get out on the net to update WHT. Either way, we will have support update customer service if you would like to call for a status update in case of any emergencies.

Ouch! Crisis mode Does this extend the 10+ days for new server setups?

Posted by Chariot, 07-10-2008, 05:50 AM
no crisis mode now, everything works perfectly, I'm satisfied again.
