Posted by klair_di_sardari, 08-01-2008, 05:41 AM
my site is down from last 2 days! VPSEmpire where are you!!

Posted by user24787, 08-01-2008, 05:41 AM
VPS Empire did go down last night this was due to a 9g DDOS Attack on our private network. We are working along side our cariers to ensure the offending IP's are black listed and our Service can resume as normal. Note we are taking all necisary precautions to prevent any future attacks, Including Cisco hardware upgrades, More security Staff and alas we no longer allow IRC Services within our Networks.

Any ETA yet on when you will be back online?

Posted by user24787, 08-01-2008, 05:59 AM
Unfortionatly we cannot give an accurate ETA on this, We are working solid on the path of resolving this issue and installing our new equipment at the same time to ensure no future downtime. All customers will be compensated for any downtime and we have got our entire team tracing the logs to ensure the offending networks are being removed.

Is it a single VPS being targetted or everything? Normally with a KVM its pretty easy to work out which VPS is getting the crap kicked out of it

Posted by dmfhost, 08-01-2008, 02:18 PM
good customer service would have been to either mail your paying customers advising what had happened or at least man the live support, as a result some of us are left with bad uptime, image and losing business, and without an answer to give to our hosted clients. not good

Posted by WorldOfComputing, 08-01-2008, 02:33 PM
Yes we do sell VPS's many shapes and sizes. But we don't get them as cheap as our customers do.

Posted by user24787, 08-01-2008, 02:49 PM
a2b2: Well all being well yes. We found that it was a customers, Suspended the VPS and removed the IP from the network, Within 3 Hours the Attack moved onto our Nodes IP. We then droped that and the attack is pointing at our Gateway IP. Until the issues are resolved we have removed the uplink to the servers. Either one of our customers, or our company has got somebody out to get us the attacks went from 1g and are currently at 9g on our small 10g Network. As quickly as we allow the uplink we get hit by the attack again. We have a very good idea of who it is and we are awaiting response from there facilities. dmfhost: Unfortionatly our website and helpdesk along with the database are stored on the same network. We have the raw db and are trying to extract the client email addresses to contact them.

As I said in another thread, may I suggest that you setup an off-site status page, that customers can check in the event of downtime in the future? Until I found this thread I was completely left in the dark

Posted by user24787, 08-01-2008, 03:43 PM
we have plans todo so when we are back on, along with moving our sites.

Posted by Russ Foster, 08-03-2008, 04:37 PM

Posted by upgrader, 08-03-2008, 04:48 PM
Are we still supposed to wait a few days before being moved to UK datacentre?
